Ok say you played the mega million for tomorrow and you won a 61 million dollar lottary that is estimated to pay out cash at 38.2 million.  what would you do?

Me personally, Id pay off all my debt,  not much, im lucky there,  buy my dream house on 5 acres.  say around a 5000 sq foot home.  Big right. lol.  but need room for the fish tanks.  Id make sure it had a smaller 2 bedroom house on the property for my mom.  Gotta take care of the only parental unit left.  Id make sure and have big koa pond, and my biggest feature in the house would be a lets say 3000 gallon freshwater tank.  lol. im not askin too much.  have a monster monster fish tank.  BIGGEST FRESHWATER FISH I COULD FIND.  Other than that, id invest the rest.  Id still work my job, but i wouldnt make my wife work unless she wanted too.

Shoot, I'd pay off my student loans, pay off my parent's house and all of their debt (not much either), finish school, buy my own house and land(LOTS of land), build a HUGE barn for my rabbits and horse, etc... I would probably dig some ponds and breed some fish or somethin. LOL! Then, I would probably turn the rest of it into coins and put it in a big vaulted room and swim in it like that cartoon character from a long time ago...forgot his name...LOL, just kiddin'!

That's easy.  The 75 mi each way for work my husband, Robert & I used to drive it was a way to pass time.  

Love where we are but would buy up more land behind us  ---  for landing strip as tall trees / 900 feet not good,   cover a riding arena & finish barn,  enlarge pasture pond & add windmill I always wanted,    NEVER EVER EVER work shift again.

Well, we aren't doing shift work anymore  and  Mom, my bestest brother & fave uncle all live in our neighborhood w/ one daughter & her family going to build down the road  so looks like I already WON !!!!!    :emtthumbs:

My husband is the pilot and flys for fun out of Hooks and May.  Works out @ Hooks also.
 
We own a Grumman Cheetah and a Culver Cadet that are both flying. They are at Hooks.    I hope to learn come summer if time permits and my daughter, Megan [cantdoitkid] loves it & will hopefully consider learning too.

He is restoring a PT-22,24 26.    Bought as project package  so it's the 22 that he is concentrating on.    Already finished restoration & sold a Heston Lark  and has the #1 serial number Lark in pieces & stored in the back of his shop.  These are at house.

 Does all work from building wood centersections & spars etc, to fabric work, wiring, painting & engine work.    Used to restore antique cars [ last one -custom rollsroyce '72 is stored in his shop till sold] and now vintage planes.  

Trying to drag him to a meeting cause others have multi interests too.   Virginia

Man the Grumman Cheetah :)  (AA5A and B)  I love that aircraft...   I have several hours in both Cheetah's and Tigers.  I have to find my logbook to see actual time.   Earned my Commercial ride in the Tiger.  Got my Multi in the Grumman Cougar.  What fun aircrafts..

If I won the lotto, here is what I would do..
1.  Pay off my simple debt.
2.  Set aside prolly 3 mil for retirement
3.  Set aside 1mil for bills to come
4.  Buy a piper Matrix or Saratoga
5.  Buy a couple of houses around the country so I can go there and take time off.  Like a Snow lodge so I can go snowmobiling, a place where its always nice and cool in the summer so I can go there and relax over the summer.
6.  Build a business I could oversee for the rest of my life.  Ie something where I can have income for a long time to come.

Who knows what to do with the rest.

i love the cheetah. i use to instruct in them.  they were so much fun.  great planes.  

zulaab u must done your flyin out at hobby with fletchers huh.  they were the ones in town with the grumman fleet.  i worked there for awhile.  I fly for ExpressJet now.

Ideally, I would buy a decommissioned missile silo in the hill country and turn it into a house and bomb proof data center where Girlgeek and I could work from home, run our own business and have all the fish we could want living in seclusion.

Realistically, we would probably take some time off, give money to our family and invest. There would probably be a few purchases...

an absurdly customized hot rod Cadillac (late 60's) for me
a 69 charger for Girlgeek
more aquariums and fish DUH!
maybe a fish store for Girlgeek
a tiara (real diamonds) for me and bubble bath time
more power tools for Girlgeek

Oh yeah... And an Aquatic shopping spree for all of GHAC as a club activity.

Put it into high yield savings accounts or something and live very comfortably off the interest...

38 million * 1% interest = $380,000

38 million * 2.5%interest = $950,000


So as long as you can get the money to earn at least 1% over inflation in an account that allows you to harvest the interest on a regular basis theres no reason to spend any of it right off the bat, unless you have very pressing immediate needs.


but yah... Custom home on a big chunk of land in the mountains somewhere ( complete with secret passages and hidden rooms and all that stuff, solarium, smoking room, library, Bunker with my arsenal.

a couple cool fun cars (some to drive right away some as projects), fix up my old explorer into an offroading machine, setup some more aquariums

do a bunch of traveling, see all the world that I havnt had a chance to see.

ok first off.  i just figured out that guygeek is a girl and girlgeek is a guy..  and here i was thinkin that guy was a guy and girl was a girl.  i though yall were callin yourselfs geeks.  hum.  unless the guy wants the tiara. hey thats fine with me its your money but.....   lol.  
and second y do i get the idea that some people on here are some dooms day conspiracy theorists?  
and about the dooms day,  did yall watch history channel last night about dec. 21 2012 the mayans say thats DOOMS DAY.  uh oh.  whos right, them or was nostradomis?  hes been right about some stuff but the mayans are battin a better record...........  spin that around in ur head.
