          Actually it probably is inexpensive steel; However, the problem is design. The frame rails were not thick enough or large enough. From what I can see the steel failures are all ductile. Controlled/micro alloyed steels are very inexpensive and very  strong . The designer did not know the difference between strong and stiff; no suprise for Mopar.
