Shad running in the Surf

The surf was fairly slick all morning and those big shad are running again. We had a couple good runs but never landed any good fish. Caught a ton of 5lb gafftop which was still fun as long as we didn't touch them.

We will be out there this weekend. planning on doing some fishing but hoping the DCCmud has my taps in.

I was fishing in the surf in Freeport and lots of big mullet in the surf there.

Im headed back out in a few hours. I heard fishing was better in the evening. Plus I realized one of those gafftop could put my kid on the Star tournament board.

Hey Troy, you coming down this weekend? Surf was fairly slick this morning. We caught 3 bulls on Wednesday, 5 slot reds and a good trout. Thursday we caught 4 more slot reds. This morning we caught 2 but it was slower fishing.

The water is slick as glass this morning. I have a shovel in my hand. Not a fishing rod.

Haha....I had a rod all morning and you got more accomplished than me. My buddies caught a few but not killing them. We are waiting for the wind to pick back up. First, I need to get that county boy breakfast from The Crab Trap.

Btw...caught 6 reds yesterday evening and had 3 break off.
