I don't want to take any chances on not being able to clean them and Big Blue getting sick again. His scales are all grown back and he's back to being the handsome devil that he's always been. If I were that lab I'd be up beside him doing the shimmy shake dance. :kissu:

Yeah, no big deal. I'll just have to scale back on feeding them for a few days. I've gone 3 weeks w/o wc before.

I usually do water changes straight from tap. Does the flooding usually affect water quality?

                  In what way? Contaminants? Chlorine?

Yes. After a big rain, the city is known to double, triple, quadruple dosage on the chemical for water treatment to keep it safe for human comsumption. This results in high concentration of Chlorine, Chloramine, other unknown chemicals in the water that is not friendly to fish.

It's best to wait a couple days after the rain to do water change. If you have a carbon bottle, it helps remove these contaminant and you can do wc as usual.

                          No problem.

Many people lost their fish a few weeks ago after the big rain. They learnt the hard way.

Try to think positive, you never know, could be like my neighbors boat during Ike, just sitting there unharmed.

I hope Ken is ok too! I've grown very fond of you all in a short time.

I've gone over a month when I was sick. ugh! I know that's bad. Fortunately hubby will do it for me now if I need him to. I try not burden him with my hobby.
