  • Hello from Cochabamba, Bolivia

Sorry these are so bad, but I had to use my camera phone.

At La Cancha - a large open-air market.  You can find almost everything here.

This is El Christo - a giant Jesus on a hill.

This is the view from the giant jesus...er...El Christo.  :)

Okay, I've seen it....I'm ready to come home.

Dang...how is it that your camera phone pics are better than my camera pics?

I guess I missed the memo, but what are you doing in Bolivia?

Villa Tunari (not to be confused with the Tunari National Park) is a small town in the eastern Cochabamba rainforest where visitors often go to see the animal refuge Inti Wara Yassi that houses several monkey species, pumas and exotic birds. An annual fish fair is held, where many varieties of trout and surubi fish can be delected.

I'm here for work.  We are training the team here so they can help us out with the testing of our products.

I don't think I'm going to get to see any wildlife this time around.  It's 8:35pm here and I'm still at the office.   :?

              Re: Hello from Cochabamba, Bolivia

Glad to see you've gotten the opportunity to see/visit a different land and culture.  Consider yourself fortunate to have this chance - it's unbelievable how many people rarely travel more than 100 miles away from "home" their entire lives.

Personally I think visiting other countries helps give one a broader perspective on life in general.  I know it's made a great difference in the way I think and feel about other lands and cultures - especially when you can come home and realize how great the differences really are!

Take care, hope you have a chance to spend some time exploring (with a knowledgeable, trustworthy local guide).

See you when you get back!

Hi Guys!!  Thanks for all the comments!  This is the first I've been online since yesterday when my laptop crashed!! 8O  But I'm back up and running now, thank goodness.  I don't do well without my laptop....I start to shake and go into withdrawels.

So, we didn't leave the office until 9pm last night, but someone said we may make time to hit some of the local markets on Thursday before the flight (we fly back to Santa Cruz Thursday night, then back home on Friday).  It's too bad I didn't get to do anything fish/wild animal related (sorry EK) :) but maybe I can come back and bring guygeek with me to do that stuff next time.

There are beautiful mountains right outside the city, the Andes I think.  And there is a huge lake, but I can't go near it because it's protected at the moment from people/fishing/boats.  And every tree here has a giant flower of some kind!  Huge blooms!!  A nice change from the plain trees of Houston.  (I'm gonna try to snatch some seed pods) :)

                              More later....back to work!
