Energy/oil shortage ; actually not in US.

Our shortage is  ermits for oil prodution and nuke power plants.
Don't believe me , look up shale oil and tar sands (and gas hydrates) on Wikiapedia.
96% of shale oil is on federal land ;the Dem congress just voted to continue the production ban.
I know of only one country that blocks offshore oil production. Does anyone know of anyone beside "us"?
France is 80% nuke electricity; I guess it is because they are so much more advanced than "us"?
China,Russia ,etc are building nukes as fast as they can.
These and a great many other situations because the Dems/liberals keep "us" tecnically igorant through the NEA union (ignorant teachers = ignorant students).
I will try to explain tecnologies to anyone interested.

Canada probably blocks off shore production.

The US is afraid of Nuclear Energy because of 3-mile Island.  There are new plants being built now, one of them will be in Eunice New Mexico.

A lady gets a million dollars becuase the hot coffee she ordered at McDonalds burned her when it spilled.

In Nigeria people get killed for coming close to the refinery componds.

So, what does that mean?  It means business today would rather build overseas than to deal with our Emissions Laws, frivalious lawsuits, and overall red-tape bs.

China is industrializing right now, just like Japan did right after WWII. Soon they will have the technology because they own all the real money now.  All the money is going to them.  A friend of mine in the shipyard tells me that all day long they unload containers from the holds of ships that contain all kinds of Chinese made products.  You want to know what goes back?  NOTHING but empty containers, and containers full of scrap metal.

I cannot believe that Congress is going after the oil companies for making so called "record profits"  They are reporting maybee 5-10% profit.  Want to guess what the banks in the US are making on my 20% credit card intrerest rate, ballon mortgages, and other loans to our own government????  On average more likely 15-30%..

Why is the congress not onto them?

Canada has substantial production from the Hibernis complex offshore Nova Soctia. . On the other hand I don't think Ureguay has offshore production.
Since 3-mile (actually caused by accomodating the unions- using human operators instead of automatic operation), the "us" has about 10,000 reactorXyears with no accidents.

even more interesting to me is that we will pay $1.95 for a bottle of water and never flinch at the profits in so called "Spring Water" but heaven forbid fossil fuel prices rise and there is a congressional hearing and public outcry.

I am so embarrassed,guess I am getting old.
I meant Paraguay, not Uruguay, does not permit offshore drilling : That is humor because Paraguay has no coast at all.
Also , Hibernia production complex is offshore Newfoundland. Also Canada has a lot of offshore production on the North Slope ,next to AK.
Bottom line: US is the only country that bans offshore oil drilling .

I thought Shell, Chevron, and others had oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico just offshore from Galveston? I remember hearing about them losing a few after Katrina.

As an aside and off topic there was actually a lot more to the story concerning the lady who was scalded by the hot coffee from mcdonalds.
You should probably do some research before implying that her case was meritless.

If we ban offshore drilling, where do our men go that work "offshore" ??  We have at least one here on the box who does this type of work.  Also....why can you see oil platforms from different beaches on Galveston and Bolivar?

I think the drilling mentioned is for Oil Exploration and then there are platforms for Oil extraction. The US will not allow Oil Exploration on the East or West coast or in Alaska. I don't know about new Oil Exploration in the gulf.

Oil extraction is a long term endeavor lasting until the well is dry.

Interesting storey though...Still is frivolous law suit because Hot Coffee ordered by you spilled by you burned you.

Lets sue the automaker of my car that I bought, that I got into a accident with, and got injured.

Lets sue the gun maker of the gun that someone bought, decided to use it, and it killed/injured me.

Let sue McDonalds the maker of the Big Mac, that I choose to buy, and made me fat and caused health problems.

Read that article carefully,

Mcdonalds knew their coffee was too hot and were told to reduce temperature of the coffee, they did not.

Initially the woman only wanted mcdonalds to pay for her medical expenses, they refused, hers was the one case they decided not to settle.

It's Mcdonalds fault for letting her case get away from them not the womans and not the legal systems.

And it wasn't a frivolous lawsuit.

Mcdonalds had a duty to reasonably maintain the temperature of their coffee and they did not, they breached their duty.  

The coffee burnt the woman causing 3rd degree burns because it was too hot.  
She may have spilled it but that does not change the fact that the coffee was too hot.

Negligence= Duty + Breach of Duty+ causation + Damages

The fact that Mcdonalds had been sued 700 times because of their coffee and settled for as high as $500,000 should have been an indication that changes needed to be made.

So McDonalds is to blame because an idiot spilled "Hot" not iced but HOT coffee in her lap and they didn't just pay her off to begin with.

Common sense is clearly outside of your reach. Clearly alcohol companies are responsible for DUI's, gun stores and companies are responsible for murder and deaths, and you are in no way responsible for your own actions. You're just a victim (sheep) of anyone with money.

Are you a lawyer or work for a law firm? I need a lawyer. I broke my Toe and nobody told me the piece of slate I dropped on it could break my toe if it was dropped on it. HEY!!! There wasn't even a warning on it. Woo Hoo, I can retire.
