    Traffic cams good or bad

    I was at Bellair and 59 today. On my way to the old FRII and there was a stalled car. The cameras were going nuts on cars going around the stalled car and it made me think. Are these cameras a good thing or not? I haven't heard of anyone's civil rights being violated as a result of the traffic cams and that wa the argument.

    Just thought I would see what others thought. I'm still not sure if they are good or bad,

        it is prooven to not be effective in lowering accidents. the people that ignore redlights still do and still cause accidents. My friend in England said that the accidents just moved to the areas that didnt have the cameras because the irrisponsible people changed their routes to avoid the cameras. (they are much less forgiving about traffic violations there) i saw some crazy scary photage the other day showing that there are still really stupid drivers around

          It depends to me where the money they get from this is going to. The cameras are not a problem to me. How stupid can someone be to run a red light when signs are posted there is a camera. Maybe if people would get off their cellphone and pay attention to the road there would be less accidents. I will hold myself back on that issue and people who don't use turn signals. I just have to say I wish I can ram them!lol

            green means go.

            yellow means go fast.

            red means 3 more cars...........................




            thats why I avoid driving inside the loop

              Red light cameras only affect those that run red lights. Look at crashes caused by redlight runners. I think you should lose your licence for 30 days on the first offence. More for 2nd offence.

              I drive a lot of miles everyday and see a lot of accidents. The red lights under the Hardy Toll rd and Beltway 8 junction are really bad. People assume that because the first lights have gone green, the second set will be green before they go under them - wrong. Theres a stupid delay in the lights which combined with stupid drivers is just asking for trouble.

              Right-Turn-On-Red is abused way to much. RTOR is when you WILL NOT interfere with other drivers, not if you floor it and jump into a small gap.

                I think its the opposite way around. I dont know anyone to be let off a speeding ticket in the UK. Ive been let off 4 in the US.

                      Yeah talking about driving in England...  I have done my fair amount of speeding, including at some point been driven in a car faster in England than any other place on earth.. but all on back roads where my cousin knows cops are not going to show... and the capability of being able to run from them if needed are VERY high..  Ie... my cousin is a professional race driver, and we where in a Porsche 911 GT3 -- ~160mph comes FAST in that car.

                        i would think those cameras were goin off on the stalled car in the middle of the red light not the ones goin around unless they were goin around the car on a red light???
                        but i dont think they are good cause if they can do that then why cant they put radars and camaras on the highway to catch a speeder.  it wont end until our whole lives are being monitored by a camera and computer to send a ticket for doing something illegal.  whether it be speedin on the highway or possibly one day smoking in a nonsmoking area (thats for the smokers.  lol) or something stupid and petty like that.

                          The incidence of rear end collisions from people slamming their brakes to stop at red lights with cameras has gone up. Problem is....people just don't pay enough attention to their driving...cameras or not. Some attorney who gets ticked off and has enough money to bankroll the suit will eventually have the cameras removed.

                            This is an interesting technology. In the last few days I have found that public/traffic cams have lots of uses that make them an interesting technology. I thought it would be interesting to reach out to some contacts in the AI (artificial intelligence) market and it turns out I have contacts with a company developing the use of public/traffic cams for identifying stolen vehicles, Amber Alert vehicles and human behavior patters associated with illegal activity.

                            Think about it. Traffic and weather cams identifying vehicles associated with Amber Alerts and notifying authorities. It automates police and investigative work allowing police to focus on apprehension.

                            I meet with the CIO on Friday. This could prove to be very interesting.

                              I suppose you would want to mount a mini-gun next to the camera......

                              I'm still trying to figure out when I approved the purchase & installation of trafic cams on the freeways.
