Re: We need your help.Spirit needs your help. I am truly beg

Marigny is praying for Spirit; we are very hopeful.
I saved a few puppies (Corona Virus) with several days of hydration, and tubefeeding liquid food (50/50 GatorAde-Karo Syrup); the vet should be able to do even better. There is a good chance she can be saved.
Our thoughts are with you, Reba.

Donation applied at the Humble Animal Hospital. I can't make the meeting and the auction so donated money toward Spirit's care. Keep us updated Reba. Best of luck to Spirit and her family.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? The colony of buffs are spoken for.  All buffaloheads are at this point.  The outreach here is amazing.  We don't know how to thank you all.
Report:  She did vomit last night, but at a far lesser degree than most pups they have treated for parvo.  She has not had diarrhea since she has been there.  He attempted to give her a little by mouth of she instantly spit it back up.  She is nowhere near out of the woods yet.  However... as of later this afternoon... we know she will have more time with the vet.  The IV fluids are her saving grace right now....and who would complain about a little in the pain meds category.
I appreciate everything... the prayers, the kind words, the requests for purchase, and the direct donations.  You are all completely amazing.  Wes... thank you so much!

Re: We need your help.Spirit needs your help. I am truly beg

You're very welcome. I love dogs. One of my favorite speeches is about dogs, by George Graham Vest. It's called "A Tribute To Dogs".

Gentlemen of the Jury: The best friend a man has in the world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us, may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads.

The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer. He will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings, and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens.

If fortune drives the master forth, an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him, to guard him against danger, to fight against his enemies. And when the last scene of all comes, and death takes his master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by the graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad, but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even in death.

            George Graham Vest - c. 1855

Hoping Spirit gets better soon, Reba. Hang in there.

                Re: UPDATE on Spirit

                UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!! :-)
We went to visit Spirit at the vet.  She is still not eating or drinking.  However... when she saw us... she jumped up, began beating her tail against the cage.  The vet and his wife came in and were amazed.  They hadn't seen her act so excited.  We don't want her to be depressed (therefore the visits).  The vet is closed on Thursdays but he is going to be taking care of Spirit and immediately told us he would call so we could visit.
If we can just get her to eat and drink... and keep it down.  Send more good thoughts please.  The clinic was amazed at the generosity of people.  They were receiving calls all day of people either donating or simply checking to see how she was doing.  I thank you.... Berni thanks you... and I know Spirit thanks you

                      Re: UPDATE on Spirit

I am not up on Parvo, but isn't the main thing to keep the body alive without any water or food going in? Hence the IV?
If she is still keeping her "happy" going, that's a good sign!
I think that when the crisis passes, when the virus is finished and breaks loose, she will then be able to eat bland food, etc.
I know that with the "cousin" virus I had to deal with, any food or water intake was very dangerous; I saved my puppies that lived (all did after I learned how to treat them) by under the skin injections of Ringer's Lactate (vets do it by IV)  and tube feeding GatorAde/Karo syrup for 4-5 days, after which the virus mutated and was thrown off by the body.
Spirit is much older and larger than my puppies so the vet is the best thing for her. I am holding on to my optimism for her, she is in good hands and she has the will to make it.
I read Marigny the Spirit Fund auction posts, and we are waiting along with you, Reba. You and Berni are in our thoughts, Spirit is in our prayers.
I am proud to be a Human Bean, watching the progress of the FishBox response; nice to know you're not alone!

(Even Vets are trying to "get" Parvo...)

When we first got our dog Nikita she had come from a bad situaton.  We didn't know it when we brought her home but she was already sick.  It took over a week of around the clock care with putting meds in her, making her drink some fluids, cleaning up her messes, etc.  She became skin and bones.  I didn't think she would make it, but she did.  Today she is a happy and healthy 7 month old 95lb. dog!!  LoL  Nikita and I are thinking of Spirit and we wish her all the best!!  Please keep us updated on her!!

wow..... awesome success story.  Spirit has lost quite a bit of weight.  I know that she can do this...  I am hoping she starts to eat a little or drink a little.  That will get her home.  We are scurrying around here trying to bleach everything..including the bottoms of our shoes, all bedding, all throws on the furniture.  When we get home from the laundromat (washing rugs in high heat and bleach etc) I am going t o steam clean the carpets with color safe bleach.  I asked 3 different vets and they said this would work.  I am not even worried about the color and the landlord says I have to live with it lol.  I Really thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers, donations and warm words.  I appreciate you all!

                                Re: UPDATE on Spirit

                                SPIRIT CAME HOME TODAY!!!!
                                She is still eh...so-so.
The vet was excited because she kept down a bit of food and some water.  He actually went on her actions and activity.  When we got there she was jumping around and "Talking" and of course peeing on the floor lol.
Well, she got home and vomited.  I was off running to sam's to buy her a new dog bed for her bony joints and to get mass amounts of Clorox.  I then took every piece of fabric from the house that was not nailed down and took it to the washateria.  Four frontloaders and 6 dryers later... I am finally home, the floors have been sprayed, but I couldn't garner the energy to steam clean them with bleach.  All plastic toys were tossed, all chewies pitched (much to the chagrin of the other pups), and all cloth toys finally bleached.  I'm tired... Bernadette is tired.  I think we may really sleep today if we see she is resting...
After  several  hours from her last upset belly, we offered her a little bit of her regular food... the canned version.  We shall see.  If she doesn't keep it down... it's back to the vet for us.  I appreciate all you have done for her.  She is not out of the woods yet, but we can almost see the clearing.  Since the clinic wasn't opened today, we verbally set up possible future visits to make sure she is better as well as reguarantee her immunity to this awful virus.  We haven't totally cleared the bill, but we are definately on the downside.  So... she still needs your prayers, but she is doing better.   Thanks so much.  We truly could not have done this without you.
