I was going to agree with you on the Peregrin Falcon, because they do live around here, but the problem with it is that a Peregrin Falcon is as follows.

Picture shows a large bird.  Peregrin Falcon is a medium sized falcon
Peregrin Falcon has a solid dark colored head... this bird shows a light colored head.
Peregrin Falcon has a solid dark colored upper body... this bird shows a dark colored body with streaks of white going though it.

I am thinking this potentially could be a Red-tailed Hawk.
Size, coloration etc.  shows it to be a close match.

thanks for sharing with us though.....that is truly awsome.....

                  That's cool!

We had a pair of love birds fly into the shop where I work....they rested on the vent hangers for most of the night.

that is crazy ek. red tails are super cool birds though. cant usually just leave food for them though, they kindy like live, or rotting meat you know.

it's confirmed. Its a young red tail. Most likely only about 3 months old. When they are first learning to fly they can end up perched in strange places. Now I want to go see some more hawks!

Re: We had a Visitor at Work today

I used to go up in the state park near (if i remember correctly) the northern part of Lake Conroe and watch the eagles.  Each time I went I saw some...and yes, I am talking bald eagles.  We would also see hawks of various species and what we called buzzards growing up (red bald head...black scraggly feathers.. the works). Around the more commercialized areas of the lake you wouldn't see as much.  One of the things my mother gave me when I graduated high school (I had moved out at 16 to be an apt. manager), was a bird book.  She marked the pages of birds she knew that I knew... then clipped the pages of birds I might see down here.  I still have it near my door.
