I went up there again tonight to get Xan to eat again. He's wearing a halo now. 8O He is pissed about it. He chewed through his IV. I'm thinking he was planning his escape. The tech told me that he's been sitting in the cage with his face in his paws in the corner. :)
We hung out in the exam room for a long time. I took the halo off. Here's a pic.
Got another blood test at 11pm, so the doc said she'd call me around midnight. Gotta have the bilirubin DOWN!!

I hope you hear good news soon :)
I am sorry to hear that Xan is chewing through the IV. My old cat did the same thing.. and he had to have a collar too...
Then there was the time when he was made an it.. he came home and we where told... put him on the floor and let him rest for a couple of hours.. dont let him get off the floor because he could injure himself if he falls because of the medication (ie not 100% balanced)...
Laid him down in the kitchen (warm floors) and within 5 minutes he had moved into his favorite chair and fallen a sleep. We left him there.. he woke up the next morning and within a week he was no longer gone for 2-3 days at a time...

Cats...we love their independence and the fact that they let us in their "pride"...when your friend is hurtin', coming to the rescue is a privilage.
Then, they let us know what is expected of us. I can't concieve of having a dog without a feline "house master" to keep Goofy (or Fido, etc) in line.
I'm sure we all have "can you believe this" cat stories, I always had purebred or half Siamese kitties so you know I do... :)
Geeks...sigh...so sorry you had to go through this. Everyone wishes the best, your Kitty will be home with you soon. I'll bet he's real annoyed!
Please keep us posted...
All the best, guys.

All my other tanks have gone on to better lives!
Last night, the doc called and said that Xan's midnight blood tests showed his PCV at 28% and his Bilirubin at 0.8. Perfect, right? She said I'd be able to come get him this morning and that they wanted to do another round of tests at 6am. Well, the vet just called and said that Xan has been running a fever of 105 for the past 2 hours. And that he is bruising too easily! Am I being tested??? I'm freaking out!

8O You poor thing. I would be freaking out too. I'm so sorry to hear that. I truely hope the next time the vet calls it to say: come get him he's ready to go home.
You are so right. I mean, what's the worst that can happen...they just don't buzz me in and I hang out in the car until visiting hours. I'm totally going up there.

Traci is packing a bag, somebody grab the ice chest and the beer! Looks like we are going camping.
he reminds me a bit of my cat, Bacon(not the one in my avatar, thats Grey) white with the orange stripes.
that story about the cat in the refridgerator is pretty funny! my cats like to go in there sometimes as well. Several times one of my cats will sneak into the closet behind my back, and then will get closed in all day while I'm at work. Its always the cat that is outside that is worried about the one in the closet.... when I open the closet door they're always curled up sleeping on the top shelf...
My cats have a fascination for cabinets as well. My little white cat will sit by the cabinet doors for hours just pawing them open to hear them slam shut. Drive me absolutely crazy, it's a pretty short trip btw lol. The same cat also likes water. And yes, she does end up closed up in the pantry quite often as well, but she can be very vocal so it's not long before one of the dogs alerts me and she's rescued.
