  • Utah Concealed Weapon Permit for Texas Residences - NW Hou.

I found an instructor here in NW Houston willing to teach the four hour course on a Wednesday in August for the Utah Concealed Weapon Permit.  Place is TBD.  Time would be 6pm to 10pm on a Wednesday in Aug.  To get a license the total cost will be $75 for four hours of instruction, fingerprints and papers, a $35 application fee for Utah and $30.25 for the FBI background check.  Add this up an it's much less than the TX CHL.  I need nine others and I think I have that.  Just looking if there is anyone here who'd be interested.

A Utah CWP is good here in TX as a TX resident and several other states including some not covered by a TX CHL.

Any question of the legality of this call the following like I did:  Concealed Handgun Licensing Bureau at DPS, at (512) 424-7293.

I'm trying to gauge what Wed next month is the best for the most people.

The regular concealed permit for TX isn't that much more.  Why would you want to get a license from Utah, is it just the pricing?  I understand that it's legal and all to have a Utah permit but in the event that you were to ever have to show both your DL and CWP at the same time, I guarantee that there are going to be some questions.  It just seems like a lot of hassle in the long run if you ever really needed your CWP because you had to protect yourself.

My two pennies worth as always.

Just for what its worth, some states only recognize CHL only from residents of the issuing state in the reciprocity agreements, not from non residents of the issuing CHL state.  I would verify the reciprocity agreement or understanding between the two states does not include a non resident clause. sunrise

You know, I'm not a big fan of firearms, but when the NWO comes around the bend, I'm going to be wishing I had me one..... :)

CO, MI, WV and FL do not allow non-residence licenses.  The Utah permit adds Washington, Ohio, Nevada, and Minnesota to the reciprocal states you would have with your Texas CHL.

Not the reason I'm taking it but you also may be able to qualify for a Utah CFP and legally carry in Texas, even if you do not qualify for a Texas CHL due to delinquent payments to the state of Texas, including child support, taxes, and Texas Guaranteed Student Loans

For me the attraction is that the license saves about $120, a box of ammo and a bunch of time.  It also lets a couple ladies, who are pregnant, apply without shooting.

I think the thing that makes this worthwhile is the added states to the Texas Reciprocity
