Well Ike....you sure were a messy one. Coming through ever so slowly with your big ol' self and tearing up everything you could get your wind on. Well, I hate to break the news to you Mr. Ike....But us Texans were the wrong folks to mess with. You can blow over our fences....you can topple our tree's....you can knock out the power to milllions of folks.....you can even take our homes (God be with them)!!!!
But....you can never crush our heart....our will power....our strength....our ingenuity. Why, in fact, you brought the best out of millions of Texans. Neighbors meeting neighbors for the first time after living next door for years....Families being brought closer together, getting to know one another all over again....reminding our kids that there really is something to life other than video games, called outdoors.
Those fences you blew over.....neighbors came together and picked them up!
Those tree's you toppled across many roads....complete strangers (with chain saws) worked together to reopen the road!
That power you knocked out....well, us Texans have always enjoyed camping!
I started out writing this to tell about how I faired after the storm (and flood here at my house) but I like this even better. So I'll just have to post another thread later.
I sure do love Texas!!!!!!!!!!!!!
