yes they do.        add even an HOB..
  add an air stone also / no lights to calm them / do cover as they are crowded and tend to jump at times in that situation
I'll bring you that portable tank if you would like and what ever I think may help..   Just say so and what time.  much bigger than what they are in [ this is the giraffe cats winter home ] and you can setup & use till things get put back rite.

Thank you V.  I'll give you a call tomorrow to work out a time convenient for you.  I have no idea how long it will take to get the pond redone and we will definitely need to put them someplace better than the tank they are in now.  I really appreciate it.  

I've got a Rena XP3 on the 110g now, and I'll throw an emperor 400 on it as well.  I also put the tops on the tank to ensure no one jumps during the night.  The lights are out as well.  

V, I'll call you tomorrow and work things out.  You are a life saver.

It takes a lot to upset me this much. And yeah, maybe I did get a little emotional (man speak) Big Whoop! NOBODY jacks with our fish/family. Those Koi are hand fed and very friendly. It's not like we can just cruise up to the LFS and replace them.

Oh man, I only just read this (been offline a few days).  I can only imagine your fury.  I love my koi and have had them since they were only a few inches long.  That was a few years ago, so I've become quite attached.  I'm so, so, sorry to hear you lost one  :(.  Make sure you dull the knife you plan on using on the roofers, they don't deserve quick and easy.   I have some bamboo skewers if you'd like to have them too (I won't want them back.).  Hrm, I also have a spool of wire and an electric fence controller if you wanna borrow it - the livestock, non-intermittant kind  :evil: .

If you need or can use it, I have a kiddie pool ifyou'd like to borrow for temp housing.  It's a snapset walmart pool, 8' diameter and about 20" high.  It's not deep, but gives them room to swim around.  Maybe you could put it in the garage?  Let me know.  My koi lived in one for a while before I got the hole dug for the current pond.  The biggest hazard I faced was raccoons pushing in the sides since they're flexible.  I don't know if that would be a problem where you are, and if in the garage, then I should think not.

Hmm...I was thinking about cutting off the roofer's air supply so they would feel the same that the koi did while they were laying in that puddle without enough water to breathe.  But I like the idea of a dull knife, bamboo skewers and especially the electric fence controller and wire.    

Thank you for the offer of the kiddie pool, but Virginia is already bringing over a portable pond for us to use tomorrow.  If by chance, anything changes, I will definitely contact you.  We don't have any raccoons out here...only possum.  And they only come in to raid the cat food and terrorize guygeek.

If you have some phone books lay them on top of the lids in case they do jump or get startled.....usually happens when you are sleep walking in the middle of the night and these guys are powerful!

Thankfully, Justdoit came to our rescue.  She just dropped off a huge pond and filter that we are setting up in the garage as we speak.  She truly is a life saver....THANK YOU V!!

V is wonderful!!! When the whole Spirit escapade was happening, she was right there... and checkin on her..and me...OFTEN.  She even donated a box of treats which my other dogs are still munching on...btw they came in very handy during the hurricane.  To the geeks: keep us updated please... omg this whole thing has sucked for you guys.  Stand your ground.... we are all beside ya.
