  • Ron Paul on the Financial Crisis

There are some very interesting video's on the issue, posted on this website.

One video posted on this site, makes a reference about how Ron Paul predicted this mess 5 years ago.

There are several videos available to watch after you view the first one.

Too bad he was ridiculed, and then ignored by the mainstream media, I still firmly believe he is the only capable canidate for the presidency.

It's interesting to me that you no longer see any blogs/rants/articles about how this whole mess is the fault of "Big Oil" and inflated oil prices.  Amazing how when demand drops (people driving less, using mass transportation - my park-n-ride buses are standing room only every day and only a year ago where about half full, conserving resources) the price drops. Oil is down over $50 from it's peak, gasoline down close to $1.00 from it's peak.  Yet no one cared that banks were lending money to people to buy houses who had no jobs, giving others mortgages with house payments that would be 70%+ of monthly income, letting investors buy multiple houses with no money down and short-tern "teaser" rates knowing full-well that the investors were doing nothing more than betting on housing prices continuining to grow so they could flip them, and when the prices drop the investors can walk away with nothing lost since they put nothing down.

The govt was quick to roast oil executives on their earnings yet they actually regulate the banking industry (in theory) and they let this happen and now we all have to help bail this thing out.  Not sure at this point that I trust any candidate or either party to clean up this mess, I'm afraid that we are in for a long, and very rough ride.

there is though a very large difference in the structure of our economy then there was during the great depression. much more infrastructure and levels of where people can work. it isnt that there arent very many jobs available but whether people can work for less money. and the other side of that is that people will become more frugal in how they spend. thats my view of it anyway.

Well KLF, our current economic distress was not caused by the price of oil nor the improper lending habits of major lending institutions according to RP. The main reason for this problem is the Federal Reserve Bank, which is not a federal institution at all, the name implies it is, but actually the Fed Reserve is a private banking cartel, which might be comprised in part, by some members of the non exsistent New World Order.
Their goal all along as some would say is to control this nations direction by manipulating its cash flow.  They (the Fed) simply keep printing more money whenever they need it, which makes the value of the dollar overall worth less, this I believe is what contributes mostly to inflation, due to the influx of more new money being put into circulation.  To tell the truth, I don't understand it completely myself, but I am sure of one thing, this country is in for some tough times ahead.

At the risk of starting a long conversation. One thing is the Fed is a government entity top members are selected by the president with approval by congress see Bernake. Second the Fed can not create money at all the Treasury department does which is a seperate entity. I have a question CF if this was the doing of the elite to create money and sack the economy to control the country what has happened to those elite in this economy? They are losing money hand over fist in the slide of some of these major corporations. The Dow has lost roughly 5,000 points over a one year period that is a lot of money to loose and the regular folks do not have that much invested into that loss. The people that have the most money have the largest share of the loss that we have had. I am not saying that the Fed are not involved but they arent the only ones the banking industry was corrupt and the government knew and didnt care. And to find out what Senator Chris Dodd did is appauling by accepting low interest rates and multiple loans that anyone else probably wouldnt receive and he is on the banking committee in the senate.

Re: Ron Paul on the Financial Crisis

Well Darbex, I am fairly sure that the FEDERAL RESERVE BANK is in no way, part of our Government. Ron Paul (if you watch all of those short video's) comments that the FRB is so secretive, that even congress has no clue who actually owns the Federal Reserve Bank, nor can they even get authorization to do any accounting of their books and or assets, so he says. Others, have made this statement as well.

Court Rules Federal Reserve is Privately Owned Case Reveals Fed’s Status as a Private Institution Below are excerpts from a court case proving the Federal Reserve system’s status. As you will see, the court ruled that the Federal Reserve Banks are “independent, privately owned and locally controlled corporations”, and there is not sufficient “federal government …

Now I have heard that the Federal Reserve Bank is a private institution so many times, from so many sources, I'm willing to believe it. Since I understand you have no great fondness for the banking industry, it might surprise you to find this to be true, do some research and let me know what you find out.

I also understand from talk radio and other sources, that the REAL ELITE, the ones who really run this country have "no worries mate".....they have more hard assets that you can shake a stick at....and if my source's are true, they all have multiple estates out of country.
