  • My baby had surgery today.

After a vet visit with an eye infection, I showed the vet a lump on Lilly's face. Turns out, the lump is a tumor and he was worried that it could be cancer. She had her surgery today, while I paced the floors waiting to go and pick her up. Her surgery was at 2pm and she is still groggy. She can move her head and look around but she is still doped up and cannot walk. I feel so sorry for the poor baby. Here is a few pictures:

Here is a picture of her stiches. The tumor was about the size of a pencil eraser.

The vet said she should be back to her perky self by morning. My baby will be getting special food once she feels better.

You gonna let her pick a fish out of the tank for dinner?

OMG!!  I'm so sorry she had to have surgery, but so glad she is home with you and came through it well.

any update on the tumor ?
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Poor baby. I'm sure all will be well.
Did they send out for a lab report on the growth?
Don't be too alarmed if she is still a little slow on Wednesday. At my work, we usually say two days before their normal activity regains.
make sure she does not claw at the suture site. Did she go home with an e-collar in case she starts to bother it?

Re: My baby had surgery today.

She is my mommy's girl, she sleeps on a pillow next to me every night and wakes me up every morning. So last night I layed on the floor with her until she started to crawl over me. She wanted to go to her safe place (under the bed). I didn't let her at first but once she was strong enough to crawl over me I let her go and went to bed. She is still wobbly this morning but she is up and walking around, her stiches don't seem to bother her at all. They didn't give her a collar or anything like that, but she is totally declawed. The vet said he didn't see a need to send it off. He looked at it in his lab and didn't see anything suspectious and it's not cancer. He also told me that he dosen't think it will come back and that he took out enough tissue from around it so that she won't have any problems later. He said just to keep an eye on it to make sure she dosen't scratch or rub it on anything that could cause it to get infected. For all of those who had long term illness with their pets recently: God bless you!!!, This has been less than 24 hours for me and I'm drained from worry. I'm worried about her when she goes under the bed, tries to go up or down the stairs, crawls behind the sofa etc. etc. etc. My husband said I'm like an old mother hen protecting her young.   I just can't help it.
