  • Beware of Cichlidfan... See The Fish market

This tank was purchased by CF for $500 I spoke with Robert myself. It won't fit in CF's house. $100 says it's for sale for $1500 or more in 6 months. CF has already told several HFB members he paid more than $600 for it.

Beware of doing business with CF, he is an opportunist looking to make money off of all HFB mambers.

Nope, known it for a long time. Just now I have been pushed far enouh to share. I knew when Steve "cichlidfan" offered girlgeek and I a "deal" on a 210g tank for $1200 and when we declined, he put it up for sale here on HFB for $800

Well, that is my feeling as well. This was a week after girlgeek and I gave him 3 wild caught trophs for free with no expectations. $60 of free fish because he pissed and moaned about losing some of his in the December order. I guess he thought he could take advantage of us some more.

Those of you who know us know we are very generous but there are lines and CF found them.

Easy there big fella. I think you got a great deal. I don't begrudge you or anyone else for making intelligent business decisions. Even if it's at the expense of the little guy. I'm personally very impressed, own it.

      Great Job

Nice of you to admit your all for someone making an inteligent business decision. And yes, I may sell the tank for 1500.00, but we both know you wont be the lucky buyer, riight ?

I think it doesn't matter on what CF paid for it. It is what market can bear. If it is too high, then it will just sit there and no one will offer. Deals can go both ways, people low ball every day ..

Re: Beware of Cichlidfan... See The Fish market

It's lunch time here now and while I'm waiting for my lunch to heat up, I'd like to point out that the deal that Charles is referring to above was for a "like new" marineland 210 with tops/lights, a wet dry with a retail value of 440.00, a FX5, and a return line system complete with overflow and a MAG18.

          here's the tank

Do the math on all those items retail, and I believe 1200.00 was fair, admittedly, I paid 800.00 for all those items, but again, I felt a was offering a deal for those goods at the time. Now I sold the tank to a guy who thought he was getting only the tank and stand, and when he realized I was giving him the wet dry too, he was very happy with the deal. I kept the FX5 and later sold the MAG18 to another box member for 50.00....boy I bet they are pretty pissed about paying 50.00 for a MAG18 huh...right...

The tank alone was over 800.00 retail, the stand was a really nice imitation oak pretreated for moisture resistance, maybe another 350.00, the wet dry was over 400.00 the FX5 sells at about 200.00 now, the overflow and mag18....etc etc....

          Yeah I'm a real opportunist....buyer beware....

Grow up Charles....don't you have something better to do than make things up....

Re: Beware of Cichlidfan... See The Fish market

So, about 5 years ago I got a used 55 gallon with everything included (fish, too) from my buddy's family for free.  Since then, I've upgraded to a 300, two 210's, 75, 65, etc... now, I'm about ready to make some room in my TV room - should I just give this away since someone had given it to me or would it be wrong to sell it for what it's worth?

Another:  I bought some fish and the fry were thrown in for free... ethically, can I sell the babies or should I just give them away to the next lucky HFBer?

            Which is correct?

CF is a nice guy and does not rip his friends off, OK? When I first met him I was going to buy some fish from him. CF put in a couple extra fish for FREE in case they died. When I have a question about my fish I call him up and he is very helpful.  When someone joins the box, some of us post that we are all family, and yet we turn around a criticize each other. I am sorry but that does not sound like family.

The point is, if you're going to try to profit off your so called friends, don't be a sleaze about it and lie, own it and man up.
