    ....to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. --That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

    Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends. And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow we most come together as one. No matter if we white,black, straight,gay, rich, poor, educated, uneducated, Asian, Hispanic or whatever. We the people have spoken for we are the United States of America. Not Democrat America nor Republican America. We are the United States of America.

    The majority of those I mention voted for a man whom they saw as their new leader. As an African American I still had a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the my American dream. A dream that people will vote a man of color into the highest elected office that an American can hold. The Commander in Chief. I had a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." And tonight I witness my dream become a reality.

      It is one thing to elect a "man of color" and another to elect a man because of his color!
      You will never know the true feeling of being loved until you feel it from your child.

              delock... face it - a lot of people feel like that. I am not being racist! I am proud that America has got passed the racism issues! It is about time but if you listen to majority of the black voters, most voted for him due to his skin color! I never heard one say what he could do for this country. I actually have two African American friends that brought it to my attention. Most Americans would vote for a black man or woman but not one with hardly if any experience!

                i to am not a racist.  Im with reefwhisperer.  I have many black friends and you delock i consider a friend.  Alot of african americans did not even know what his views were.

                  In the entire time this campaign has been conducted, the only race remarks I have heard have been by Black Americans...not once did I hear anyone say anything about Barak's racial make up, except by Black Americans. They were alone in their race-based conversation, and I see a very deep hole having been dug by a large segment of the population. God help all the Black polititions who come after Barak if he does a miserable job, the Black population will have no credibility and people will regret having been fair and color blind while so many Black Americans, who should have rejoiced in a clearly non racial atmosphere, chose to make this election a referendum on race...their race, not the Human race.
                  Now is the time to hang on and see what all the fuss was about...let's see what Obama can do.
                  I fear for the conflict I feel coming our way...

                    African Americans are the minorty of the Minority. It was people who didnt look like me  that help put Obama in office.

                      Be honest.... Since the African American population started voting... they never turned out in the numbers as they did for Obama! I think it was said that at least 80% of blacks of most states voted! WHICH IS A GOOD THING but lets see if they vote in those numbers in two years when the House and Senate go back up for reelection! Let's see if they vote for the next two runners for president.

                      I refuse to blame McCain's defeat on blacks... for that... I blame the media! They made him into a movie star and I just can't want for the new actor to perform! Because of his experience, I wouldn't doubt if he is a one term wonder! Maybe I am wrong and he will turn make me out to be a fool! (Shut up Nick!) Maybe I am worrying for nothing! What would you think if someone just became your boss and had no experience with the company?

                          The population was actually 95% which is 13% of the total population! That is 2% higher than the last race!

                              you forgot 4 other races! No... it has not been that long ago but it seems that they would have voted more in the past. If I fought so hard for something so important, I would sure as heck used that right! The point is because of the candidates skin color!
