    Exactly !!!

I feel most people are using the Blacks voting based on color as an excuse. According to the census, Blacks always have been the Minority... making up roughly less than 15% of voters. In the past, Republican candidates never really corted the Black vote because it didn't really mean alot to them. If you think about, if every Black person in America voted for Obama, it still probally wouldn't be much larger than the margin that Obama defeated McCain by. So basically the point I'm making is.... it took a helluve alot more white votes to get Obama the Presidency than it did Black votes. Also you have to look at the fact that he crushed McCain in Electorial votes. Blacks don't control a significant amount of Electorial votes. So with that said, the excuse that some are using about Blacks voting for Blacks means nothing. This race was not close.... so the little Black votes, that supposedly , don't carry alot of weight,  should not have effected the outcome that much.

Obama is half white, half black.  Which half did the black population vote for?  lol.  And does it matter?  Even though Obama's father deserted the family and he was raised by his white mother and grandparents, Obama married a black women.

Does this make him a wannabe?  A Oreo? Or just an ordinary American who is a "Heinz 57" like so many of us?

Really...did you actually research those numbers?
'Cause it was a close race, Obama won big in electoral votes but not by millions of popular votes. And even my 7 year old knows there are millions of Black voters, the vast majority of whom were completely in the bag for Obama.
So, with the white Liberal and Democratic votes added to the near total Black votes, Obama was elected by 2 large groups...neither of which, alone, would have given him the election.
How can you marginalize the Black vote?

                  Re: We hold these truths

I voted for Obama because he is Democrat. Now if it were Hillary Clinton I would have voted the other way. Not because she is a woman but because I did not want Bill running the show from behind the curtains. I'm not big into politics and I really don't care what there views are or what their speeches say. It all comes down to what will they do once they are in office. I have always voted democrat and always will unless it's Hillary Clinton running for office. That's my 2 cents.

                    Re: We hold these truths

Blacks always vote Democrat (for the most part)...when they vote. The point is that there is not usually a great turnout among blacks. This time there was. Anyone who thinks that a much larger contingent of blacks turned out for this because Obama is a good speaker, or because he's a Democrat, is fooling themselves. The only difference maker here is that he is black. I don't resent that. The Constitution is what it is...at least until Obama gets ahold of it. I just find it very ironic that the most powerful, famous speech by a black man ever, one that everyone recognizes and respects, talking about the content of one's character and not the color of one's skin, was completely abandoned by the people who should most especially hold it high. They ignored character and voted based on race. And that is their right. But the days of claims of racism, affirmative action, and the like should be over. We have now proven that it IS the color of one's skin...at least for some. Now I'm quite sure that some white people voted against Obama because of his skin color. But the days of black people crying racism at every turn are over...because they have shown themselves not to believe in the words of Dr. King. They have shown themselves to be more racist as a group in this modern world than whites have shown. This is evident in the percentage of whites who voted for Obama vs. the percentage of blacks who voted for McCain. It is good to have a black president-elect. It is not good that he was elected, in part, by a group of people that were unwilling to look past his skin color.

That is so true! I was watching Fox News (Local) last night and the reporter was interviewing a group of students at TSU. She asked them why they were so thrilled Obama was elected and they yelled out without hesitation "because he is black". I am very proud of the reporter because she told the students that "it is a little more than that."

I wish John McCain was black so the election could have been based on political views and not color.

I truly do not care what color our President is. I voted based on political views only. And I deeply disagree with Obama's views.

                        Thank God Olson won!
