Ok...I don't post a lot around here. I believe in the "Read More, Post Less" philosophy. I'd like to add that nothing good can come from a speech. Originally, these threads were fun. I enjoyed reading them. (I enjoy a good train wreck every-once-in-awhile.) As we approached the election, I stopped reading them. I probably stopped reading them because it got really stupid. I decided to stroll into this thread due to the title. I enjoy going to the HAS auctions. Since moving to the area, we have been to a few. The last thing I want to hear is a political speech of any sort. I'd imagine the majority of the attendees would rather not listen to this mess either. I would rather you gentlemen keep this on the board or another place.

If this is going to the auction, let me know. I'll probably stay home.

        Here is the whole sequence:

I just saw where Delock wanted to bet me $100 on the presidential election. I don't bet money....I just don't do that. But, here's what I will do. If Obama/Biden win, I will give a 5 minute speech at the GHAC event immediately following the election results on why Obama will make a good President. If McCain/Palin win then Delock has to stand up and give a 5 minute speech at the HAS event next following the election results (probably the Fall Auction) on why George W. Bush is one of the best presidents we've ever had. Now that's a bet!
only if you do the same at the has meeting instead of ghac
        Really....that's easier....well bargained and done!
The above should explain why its at the HAS auction

Now...to his response in this thread...

I figure this would be your reply....just like a typical loser
I would be mad if I were you....but at yourself for not being smart enough to stipulate the terms you wanted in the beginning. You can't change the terms of a bet after the fact. I won't allow you to do so. I feel a little bad that I took advantage of you because I knew all along that whatever happened I was going to win after a fashion. I just wish that America had not lost in the process. Back to the point at hand. Whatever my speech contains...people on one side or the other wouldn't like it. So I have decided that I will do it at the end so that it will not negatively affect the auction in any way. If the spirit is to embarass the other in front of peers, this is right in line with that thinking, as the people there at the end are all my friends for many years. I said it would be at the next HAS event...the auction. I will not allow Delock or anyone else to disturb the auction. Honestly, I didn't have to specify when in the auction the speech would take place. I did so as a courtesy for Delock and others so they would know when to be there. I am also using it as, I hope, an incentive for people to stay until the end...kind of like a raffle item. I knew he was going to cry foul at this...in truth I'm enjoying it because everyone who reads this knows that I suckered him in. Here's the bottom line, Delock. Because YOU chose to do it at the HAS event under my direct control, you absolutely screwed yourself over. I will fulfill the bet EXACTLY as it was made. YOU are not in control of that. I am. I don't care if you get mad. You can threaten me, challenge me, start a poll, call me a racist again, and misspell things and use barely intelligible grammar until your heart is content...but it will not change the FACT that I played you like a fiddle and can still absolutely honor the bet I made with you. It's been pretty fun, Mr. Rabbit.

It will not be a part of the auction whatsoever...it will be at the auction facility afterwards. I knew this was going to be a problem. That's why I decided to do it at the end. So you will not have to listen to anything you don't want to...except me selling a bunch of fish really fast! If Delock would agree I would happily move it to the next HAS event or the next GHAC event...whatever is preferable. I definitely do not want to make the auction a political event. I certainly will not allow that. I do not want to turn anyone off of this event whatsoever. Those who know me know where my priorities lie and I assure you that this will be the case.

Funny how you trying to weasel out of the bet, you prove you are not a man of your word. Everything that I post was within reason. As President of HAS you put your neck out there and now you must deliver on the bet. It was agree on that this would take place at the HAS auction. Not afterward in the back of the building.

You lost and now you acting like the person I thought you were.

I'm not tring to weasel out of anything...it's plain for everyone to see. I made a committment and I'm honoring it. I'm just not allowing you to add other stipulations after the fact. No one but you said anything about the back of the building, I will not force anyone who is there for the auction to watch anything remotely political. The people who will be there to watch my speech will be there by choice.

You can say anything you want about me. I'm certain that people who read it will give it the weight it truly deserves. As for me, I would say that I don't care if you're upset...but that's not quite true. I must admit that I'm getting some enjoyment out of it. So my response to all of your whining is...tough.

Conditions and stipulations of a bet must be agreed upon before the event takes place.  This is a type of contract and cannot be changed after the fact without making the original agreement null and void.
