One of Obama's plan's to improve our energy dependence is to fund transit programs in 23 states. Is a more extensive light rail system destined for Houston? I hope so. Houston would boom even larger.

Light rail is not what we need. Commuter rail is.

Let's see....

Light rail + an area prone to flooding + a very spread out metropolitan area + a train that shuts down in anything over a quarter inch of water = You've got to kidding!

By their own numbers for projected ridership Metro could have bought each one of the riders of the downtown light rail a new Lexus and still come out ahead.

I agree ..we need commuter rail too. Each has its own benefits.

A spread out Houston is what makes a combination of commuter rail and light rail work. Flooding an issue..elevate it.

A major problem for Obama is going to be security,his acceptance speech was delayed for 40 minutes because the secret service decided there was not enough security. There have already been arrests of nut jobs with an assassination plan, how much can you concentrate on being the prez when if someone cant shoot you they may shoot your kids! I would not want his headaches. Personally I feel he is elected,he is the president...America will deal with whatever comes one way or another. BUT I am sick of seeing Oprah,the chic on the View, and other black tv persons crying BIG TEARS and going on about how opressed they are,Maybe Oprah would like to my job and I`ll go ride around in her personal JET!!   Anyway Just my opinion for what its worth....If it offends you well......No I`m not sorry because it is still America and Freedom of speech rules!!!!

I have been MIA on the political discussion due to work. I would like to give me two cents on this topic. The problem with the republicans in this election is not because of some Neocon idea that you speak of. The problem is that the republican party has become to liberal. The party of conservatism has strayed away from it. During the Bush years the republican party became more and more liberal. Just look at what Bush has backed in his term. Other than tax cuts, the war, retirement, and Gay marriage amendment most of his policies would be considered left wing. No child left behind was a great example. Can anyone tell me who came up with that bill?......... I will tell you Ted Kennedy one of the most liberal senators in history. The bill was wrong from the beginning but Bush wanted to show bipartisanship. The creation of the largest government in US history. After 9/11 instead of getting the CIA, FBI, and local law enforcement together and make them work out their differences. He created a new arm of the executive branch that uses billions of the US economy. The allowance of the US to become an owner in the industry. And Obama may just increase that with rumor that because of his close ties to the automotive industry may consider the largest bailout of the automotive industry in helping GM and Chrysler. In my opinion the government should not have bailed out the banks and we surely should not bailout the auto industry. We are setting a bad example to businesses that says well you can take all of the risks you want because in the end we will bail you out. Just look at the info on the bank bailout a few banks have decided to use the money to pay their executives and senior management their annual bonuses. Lastly Bush's policy on immigration is just completely and utterly wrong and a very democratic view point surely not a conservative view and a view that will protect America.

I can make this speech without having to rehearse because I actually know issues and can put complex sentences together. You should thank me for telling you exactly how and when this speech is going to occur. That way you won't have to be there all day.
