    Re: Happy New Year

That was great....  the bling bling on Palin was hilarious.

I worked my a$$ off last night (in my waitress costume) and made lots of money  I hope it's an indication of all the money that will pour into my bank account in 2009!

Happy New Year everyone, including Nick and EK :)

      Blackeyed peas for luck

not exactly traditional New Year's Day black eyed peas fare, but "Texas Caviar" from The Vegetarian Meat & Potatoes Cookbook.

*1 1/2 cups cooked black-eyed peas or one 15-ounce can, drained and rinsed
      *1 garlic clove, minced
      *1 scallion, minced
*3 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves
      *1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
      *2 teaspoons cider vinegar
      *1/2 teaspoon dijon mustard
      *dash of tabasco sauce
      *1/8 teaspoon dry sweetner
      *salt and pepper to taste

Place the black-eyed peas, garlic, and scallion in a food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped; do not overprocess. Transfer to a bowl.
Stir in the parsley, oil, vinegar, mustard, tabasco, and sweetner. Season to taste with the salt and pepper and stir until well combined.
      Cover and chill before serving.

You're going to need all the luck you can get
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
