'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
I love a good hype movie..
So tell me... right now... why is it that the Toyota Prius is still a car I can barely get my hands on ?? I mean since they killed the Electric cars, the car should be easy to get, but its not ??? Can you explain that to me ?? I seem to be able to buy any American (produced in Canada and Mexico) made SUV, Truck and other large American make Vehicles without a problem... even at a heavy discount... I can buy Toyota make products (made primary by the American autoworker) not as readily as GM, Chrysler, Ford, and they will give me HUGE discounts if I pick one of their vehicles...
Again.. I dont think the electric car is gone... far from it, but the movie you where so quick to point out.. didnt point out that still today 50% of all ELECTRICITY is produced by an carbon (same as oil) based fuel so we are putting TONS of CO2 into the air just like the combustion cars... Why are Hydro cars not available ?? They use Natural Gas... Safe, cleaner and just as powerful as a combustion engine. So what if you have to have a repair on the car it will cost you an arm and a leg, because you certainly cannot fix it. Wait ..... Do you know how to pull that electric engine apart in your electric car ?? no... well your local Electric Mechanic doesnt know either... but your expensive car, dont seem to drive anymore... and you want it fixed..
Wait a minute... all I talked about in two paragraphs is supply, demand and infrastructure... and common sense, something the movie makers of the film.. didnt really wanted to point out.. because its a HYPE movie... Welcome to Planet Earth.. a BBC production.....

Well, I love the holiwood moves where the car crashes and explodes..... they must be using propane or hydrogen gas tanks.
never had a problem rewinding an electrical motor or replacing a switch or reostat myself.
I get my electricity from Green Mountain Energy, all renewable energy, not from hydrocarbons
In the 60's popular mechanics had a story on a car with 4 electrical motors, one in each wheel well (removed from forklifts I believe) and when you applied the break, the motors acted like a generator and put electricity back into the batteries.....
It's all comming together, maybe not in my lifetime, but certainly in yours.
But then again, why not just market a good transporter. "Beam me up Scotty", there's no intelegent life here.

Again a quote I LOVE to make fun at...
Reading the fine print... "Green Mountain Energy does produce a product (electricity) to the grid using non-hydrocarbons... but since ALL 100% of the electricity around your neighborhood in Texas City... (actually) for the most part around Texas, is made either from Nuclear or Hydrocarbons energy. Green Mountain Energy cannot determine at all where your electricity is made at, but rest a sure that the energy you are receiving here in Texas is not made from non-hydrocarbons.

There is a point to the reference about the electric cars of the eighties, they where truly smart a$$ cars. Had this venture into alternative energy sources been allowed to continue, there is an excellent chance that most of us would already be driving them today. There was much more than just a "hype" movie to this my friend, but that's just my opinion.

Truth is the cement that holds the bricks and stones of a sane and civilized society together. Remove the former and the latter will crumble.

Skip all the Tech-no-babble - lets just say that for every KW of electricity I consume, no additional hydrocarbons are released into my grandchildrens world.
