Although I know some may hate it. But our economy could never be as we enjoy it today if it were on the gold standard. It would be impossible for us to enjoy a robust economy that affords us everything that this great nation has to offer with out the ability for the financial markets to create money. Our problem is we have allowed uncontrolled creation that has created our problem. Look at how large our economy alone has grown since I believe it was 1975 we were officially off the standard the GDP has risen from 3.2 Trillion to roughly 7.5 Trillion. There is no way the inelastic nature of pegging something to an item means that the only way the money can increase is for the commodity to increase.

This talk of recession or depression that is tossed around now on different media sources' has yet to show itself fully in this area (in my opinion), I wonder if any of you has family in areas, that is really be affected hard.....any stories to share?

I'm curious if indeed it's as bad as they say???
