I dont understand why though. I love politics and religion more than anything but I dont get pissed about it and become a flamer unless someone flames me. It is ridiculous that we cant have a discussion in the lounge for the items and be grown ups about it. Oh well

Well it's an unfortunate truth that politics and religion do evoke strong feelings from many people and often result in outbursts of equally strong emotions. I enjoy both topics for discussion as well but too many personalities and little accountability with anonymity allows people to feel comfort in crossing lines and that cause controversy rather than contributing intelligently to a conversation.

The only solution would be respect and that's difficult to force on the Internet.

This is just me, but saying the only reason a president was elected is because he's black is flaming. I know that's not why I voted for him and I know that's not why my 28 year veteran, white, middle class father voted for him either. I'm guessing there's as many people who didn't vote for him because he's black as there is people who voted for him for that reason.
