Has anyone here taken ASL classes or are interested or know ASL? I'm taking the interpreter courses at Lone Star College Cy-Fair. I find ASL and Deaf culture really interesting.

I was in the ASL interpreter program at NHC back in 98-99. It's been a while since I signed, but I just loved it. Deaf culture is quite amazing.....Comment

I'm taking the same program. My understanding is U of H is going to offer a 4 year interpreter degree starting next year. They are changing the laws so that interpreters will have to have a 4 year degree. I work in a school district and we contract for ASL interpretation for one student for an absolutely unbelievable amount of money.
I can sign a few things, mostly single words. I'm a speech-language pathologist and we sometimes use sign language as a bridge to oral language for non-verbal kids. Our high school offers ASL as a second language option, like Spanish or French.Comment
