Everything is down about 23% from last year.

In fact, I made 1/3 less this year than I did last. I do think my job at the restaurant is secure, but my massage practice did slow down substancially.

the dept i work in is super busy, which is expected in bad economic times. but there is a hiring freeze and no raises if you make over $60k. oh yeah, no bonuses either :( well no bonues for us common folks, the CEOs and CFOs are still getting theirs!

well..I'll give them this, the financial institution I work for is one of the few that didn't need a bailout and isn't in trouble so our ceo deserves his bonus

No layoffs yet.. but there have been some speculation as we have lost a major customer to IKE (they are in sourcing all their jobs to ensure that jobs stay in Galveston)

I have been told I will not be laid off because I handle to many critical things at work, but there are those who might not be as lucky.

We also have a high rate of turn over (call center) that people in my division simply never get laid off because there is always a turn over causing enough jobs to stay active.. Contractors are doomed if we have to let people go because they are the first we cut their contacts at, but we just hired 5 and looking to hire a few more over the next few weeks.

                We're doing okay. I haven't had to cut-back yet.
I really don't want to have to let anyone go.

speaking of IKE I still have not gotten my disaster relief compensation, I was out of work for close to a week and FEMA has really dropped the ball on alot of people that really need the money, especially now that the economy is the way it is.
