i didn't write this ...but it sure made sense to me.......

    JOB - URINE TEST

(Whoever wrote this one deserves a HUGE pat on the back!)

    Joe, the average worker says:

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I
pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In
order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test
with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the
distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because
I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no
problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other
hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their lazy butts,
doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the
state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public
assistance check? Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you
don't. Hope you all will pass it along, though . . . Something has to
change in this country -- and soon!!!!!

guess we could title that program, 'Urine or You're Out'.

Imagine the impact on the Welfare, unemployment, and Food Stamps monies spent, if all were required to pass a Drug Screen.

The cost of the Drug Screen would be covered in the amount of savings passed by those who could not pass.

It makes good sense, but the state would have to find a clinic that would do hundreds, if not thousands of FREE drug screens. At my last job, each test cost my company something like $200 a piece. I had to pay my P.O. $85 every time he tested me. The bottom line is, we as working Americans are gonna have to suck it up, cuz our gov't is never gonna do anything about the welfare program. I hate more than anything to see my tax dollars pay for WIC when the guy using it is wearing a new pair of Jordans. I serve these people on a daily basis at my bar. People i know are on welfare and gov't aid, but yet they drop a hundred bucks on alchohol without blinking an eye. Its disgusting, but what can you do?

Yea, maybe even if Every employer had to give a drug test to every single employee in the U.S. then the cost of the drug test may go down along with the number of drug dealers, crime and all the other things that go along with it.

To help offset the cost of drug testing, just legalize marijuana. That would solve so many other issues as well - but thats another thread all together.

well, knowing that i have strong feelings about this issue...i totally expected the response. but let me say this to you......
if you take a pregnancy test at the doctor's office it will cost you approx. $50.00 to $75.00 for just that test. not even seeing the doctor. ...if you buy one at the drugstore it's about 15.00-20.00......if you buy the test at the dollar store...well should i venture to say i have to spell that one out for ya.....
but at my clinic we do "drugscreening" on every pregnant woman that we serve....and i can't tell you how many come back positive for drugs.....
but also let me say...we are a "government" funded clinic....so it's already cheap enough to do.....the problem is getting them put into place as a pre-cursor to getting funds....and even when the test's are positive they still get the "funds" so that original email idea would be nice in "the real world"....but we don't live in that kind of place.....

so are you implying that only ppl wearing jordans are on Welfare, receive WIC and

government funding. So that would imply that all basketball players receive this aid that you are referring to. What about when the jordan wearing leaches stop going to your bar,and you have no where to work. Whoe's aid will you be asking for then.

                    interesting view point rex.

I didn't get that at all from his post. I don't think he was implying anything. I think what he said was that he sees people who have out of whack priorities -- Using welfare, yet still spending money on luxuries. But I didn't read anything that said that everyone on welfare was doing that. That's how I read it anyway.

What upsets me the most about welfare is that there are so many people that abuse the program. If they're not going make them pass a drug test (which I really think they should) in order to get it, then they should at least enforce some sort of restrictions on it like a time limit for the checks received. Funny thing is, is that the program was invented to be a hand up, not a hand out.

I think having to take the "Pee Test" is an invasion of personal privacy except when the job has to do with public safety.

Having said that, I can pee clean with the best of them.

What greg said. Why is it my employers business if I want to smoke a joint or do whatever drugs on my own time.

now if I was showing up to work under the influence then it becomes the companies business.
