  • Tire Tradegy

Hey guys...following the terrible events of last night came another terrible thing. My roommates and I got a knock at 3:30 this morning and persistent phone calls from the gate. Looking out the window we could only see figures of men but not anything else. Finally we saw a glimpse of a badge and went downstairs to see who it was. We asked through the door first of course.

The police asked who owned the silver beetle. Immediately they all looked to me. I'm thinking "what the hell! I don't have any illegal contraband in there...what do they want??" They reported that one of my tires had been slashed. To make things worse 6 more down the row had been too.

Somethings to be thankful for include James moving the minivan from that exact spot earlier that night. They had just bought brand new tires from the van AND we had just driven it in from California literally that day. So if anyone was to have it happen I'm glad it was mine. At least I can still drive it with the spare. Others can't do anything.

What point does it have to do this? I honestly see none..as if we're not poor college students as it is. I hope no one else has experienced this! Such a bummer! Also my dad said the insurance isn't even worth it to mess with, the worth of one tire is less than my deductible...grumble grumble. Guess I'm done complaining.

Waiting on the third child of trouble to show up now...think I might be getting sick so maybe that's it. Hope everyone has a better rest of the week than me.

If you have hazard coverage on your tires it is certainly worth it.

yeah....but if the tire was slashed on the side hazard coverage may not cover it.

        Sorry about that Kim...

really? I'll look, but I have to get ready for class now. I'll PM you later today. I need to look over my road hazard stuff, I got the tires at Costco with all the warranty stuff. I doubt they cover it though.

Sorry to hear about that. Completely senseless to vandalize cars like that...idiots.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

Sorry to hear that... and Most Road Hazzard will not cover it since it was done intentionally.

there is always ways around road hazzard, you could ride on the tire flat for a few miles and damage the side wall, then poke a screw into the tread. If there is any questions about the slash in the side, tell them that its probably due to you having to get to a safe spot on the highway before you pulled over. Just be careful not to damage the rim.

Hmmm that's a thought. I just wonder if I could pull it off.

Steve, no joke. I hope things even out soon. I'm not so much upset about the tire but more so about the idea that people of a less than desirable nature are lurking outside my front door. We live in a gated community however there are some lower income apts down the way. Why they would want to do this I don't know. I wish they could test for fingerprints on the tires, I'm sure there are some. A total of 17 new tires are in need of purchase after this fiasco. Makes me weary of running in my neighborhood anymore. Would feel much better with a G-U-N in the house.

                          Here's the article:

My dad talked to the people at Costco and they said they would take care of it for me. Thank goodness! Looks like things are improving.

Go find a piece of rebar or other scrap metal and shove it thru the hole all the way inside the tire carry it in to your "hazards" tire store-Discount Tires maybe and tell the "truth" you have no idea what cut the tire, they will replace it and have a Great story for other customers to buy the hazard coverage!
