Is this only a temporary thing? Working at night, I mean...not being bored... )
yes, the being bored is temporary. It's for this week. Glad this site is not block here at work. Getting a couple of hour sleep here and there during the day do wonder to your brain.
Weeellll...since you're not doing anything right now, help me out with a question... I'm online right now looking to order lights for a 50g I'm setting up as a planted tank. It's going to have 5 south american puffers, but that's the only fish...all the rest will be plants. I even got real aquarium soil , so my question is....what the hell do I buy for a standard 50g?!
Oh...you probably want to know what kind of plants, huh? I have no idea. But I'd like to go with lights that will cover a broad range of options.

1. a single 150w metal halide(good for simmering effect)
2. TEK lighting
3. Compact Flourescent
I have a 150w pendant you can have. You can give that a try and save some more money.
If you go with tek or CF, the main objective is to get enough bulb to cover the whole tank from front to back of tank. Normally hang at about 2-3" above the water line is best also for these light.
Great! I'll take you up on the pendant, but only if you let me pay you for it. I think I'll be coming to the NASH meeting this Saturday if that's okay (since I'm not a member) and I can pick your brain some more then.

Traci, I will be glad to answer any questions you have. Also we will have a lot of plant heads there to help with anything and everything.
Let me know if you need any help setting up the tank.
Tonight, I put all the substrate in, and added the water. Now I'm waiting for the cloudiness to go away and am doing a fishless cycle. I used Seachem Fluorite for the bulk of it, and the bottom layer is Pond Care Aquatic Planting Media (I needed a little bit more substrate, but didn't have enough Fluorite). When it comes time to actually pick out and add the plants, I just might ask you to come over and give me a hand.
