Thats pretty similar to how I use chopsticks... but I don't actually put my middle finger between the chopsticks.

Rex; not in Japan, actually the opposite; If you clean your dish , the host is embarrased that he did not provide enough food.
This led to a few large meals in Japan for a friend and I (both members of the "clean plate "club) when out with japanese hosts. As my friend and I would get close to cleaning our plates ,the host would talk to the waiter (in Japanese of course, which I don't understand), and more food would be brought, and we would start cleaning our plates again.
This tradition can lead to devestating results in a lounge (eg, with scotch).

I didn't know there was a rule about how much you had to eat.

If it's good....."clean plate" club it is.

If it's bad......I let them know where I live.....slapahoe, TX.

I too don't use chopsticks like the video and I'm not getting any skinnier.
IMO, chopsticks are used to eat Asian food. Forks are used to eat anything else that needs a fork. Just depends on the food.
I ate my fish that died.
