WARNING - I'm about to go on a rant about something that really pisses me off..

What a freakin' coward and a snake. This would be NO different than 20-30 years from now me lying and saying I was "in Afghanistan" when I was still in the reserves stateside in 2002. Someone needs to go after this guy for lying about his military record in a public forum for personal gain. I wonder how many times he's lied about being a Marine in Vietnam. I wonder how many times when told "thank you" for what he did over there he didn't have the stones to correct that person. I wonder how many times he's told stories about things he's never seen, never experienced, nor will ever understand. Lies on top of lies.
Anyway, here's the video of him lying like a coward for personal gain:
He should have said: "..when I served DURING the Vietnam war." That is the ONLY acceptable form of the statement. Disgusting.

The media seems to feel the same:
Hell, even Chris Matthews is appalled:
When you're a veteran and you have any sense of pride and honor, you KNOW what you can say and what you can not say. Anytime I'm around guys that served active duty, I shut up - because they did it and I didn't. Anytime I'm around guys that deployed, I shut up - because they did and I didn't. I never say Army without saying "reserves" immediately following it and I never lie about my service because you NEVER know who's listening, and in my opinion, taking credit for the risk and sacrifice of others is one of the most cowardly things you can do.
Okay, rant over.
WASHINGTON - Democrats stuck by Richard Blumenthal as their choice to fill Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd's seat Tuesday despite his false claims to having served in the Vietnam War.
Blumenthal said Tuesday he regretted "a few misplaced words" exaggerating his military service.
"On a few occasions, I have misspoken about my service and I regret that. I take full responsibility," he said, surrounded by friendly veterans at a VFW hall in West Hartford.
"But I will not allow anyone to take a few misplaced words and impugn my record of service to our country," Blumenthal added while making no apologies.
From 1970 to 1976, Blumenthal did serve in the Marine Corps Reserve after graduating from boot camp at Parris Island, S.C. However, he never served overseas. From 1965 to 1970, he received five military draft deferments.
