  • Good ol' doc Brown

    (Taken from KHOU.com)
HOUSTON—A well-known Houston doctor has been charged with assault for allegedly attacking his wife.
According to court documents, Rachel Brown, wife of Dr. Michael Glyn Brown—the now-retired founder of the Brown Hand Center – told HPD her husband hurt her arm during an argument at their home on August 13.
Rachel Brown said Dr. Brown grabbed her arm and twisted it behind her, as though he intended to break it, causing her to scream in pain.
Dr. Brown was arrested Tuesday morning. He posted $40,000 bond around 1 p.m.
It was not his first run-in with the law.
Court documents say Michael Brown was convicted of aggravated assault against a family member in January of 2002 in Montgomery County.
He received deferred adjudication for that offense.
The allegations against him are a far cry from the family-man image Dr. Brown presents in his ubiquitous commercials for the Brown Hand Center.
In the ads, Dr. Brown appears with his wife and children, pledging that patients at the Brown Hand Center will be treated just like he treats his own family.

All I can say is WoW, the commercials were always a bit creepy. I never guessed he was at that level of crazy though.

I read some where he "retired" because he lost his license to practice. I forgot what for I think it was spousal abuse but not sure.

He tested positive for Cocaine in 2006 and lost his license. Apparently everyone did not get the memo though.

World renowned Hand Surgeon Michael G. Brown, M.D., was honored Wednesday June 18, 2008, in Washington, DC, where he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Distinction. Dr. Brown had lunch with Vice President **** Cheney, and then enjoyed dinner that evening with President George W. Bush. (taken from the Brown center website)

It's because after he lost his license he was only unable to perform the surgeries. He had other doctors under him who performed the surgeries useing his techniques.
