  • Gas $3.00 Where's the outrage?

Remember WAAAAYYYY back to the Summer of 2008 when gas prices were $2.80 and climbing and the media and the Dems were calling for the head of G.W. Bush on a platter along with the heads of anyone working for an Evil Oil Company. Everyone was going broke because gas was so expensinve and Bush wasn't doing anything to save us all from the end of the world?

It was the biggest outrage since 911.

Where is the outrage now? WHERE???

    NO KIDDING!!

I've definitely gotten more conscientious about tracking my mileage for work. :) I filled up my tank yesterday and it was literally over $3/gallon. I went to the cheaper station and thought I was going crazy. So I'm glad you posted this.

My family and I talked about this last weekend over lunch. We were saying the same things - and my mum said it's supposed to go up even more. Apparently something to do with shutting down rigs in the gulf? Instead of fixing the potential problems that could occur, they shut 'em down? Don't quote me on that, but I think that's the gist. Am I correct?

Anyways, I'll give you outrage if you need it. ) I was ALREADY broke, darn it. This isn't helping.

Oh, I mean, it's all Bush's fault, though...sorry. Forgot to mention that.

CF, this is NOT directed at you in any way. I know you are not going to let this go for long :)

I HATE, ABHOR, DESPISE hypocrisy. Hypocrisy without the willingness to learn (Intentional hypocrisy) and correct the behavior is to me one of the most fundamentally damaging character flaws a a person can display and this is why Libs can't have a reasonable debate because they (not all but most) are the most fundamentally flawed, at their core, human beings when it comes to the self infected plague of hypocrisy. This is why so many have fled this sub forum.

          And...

What we are (not) seeing in the media is pure hypocrisy.

well....i did not take your post as a jab towards me....just the opposite, I felt a sigh of relief to see you expressing an opinion that I normally would have jumped on a year ago......

I guess when I saw that there was no interest in the FED Poll, I posted back before the holidays, I figured I was wasting my time trying to get folks to open their eyes to what is going on in this country.....

I know we don't agree on alot of things, but just once, I'd like to quote Bruce Willis and say..... "Welcome to the party pal...." smiles.

I think the lack of interest was timing on the Fed issue.

As for the Gas price issue, I think $3.00 is high and I don't like it but my pet peeve is that it's okay now but 2 years ago it was the sign of the apocalypse.

And CF, I think we agree on more and more all the time :) :)

I don't remember blaming Bush for oil prices. He has nothing to do with the price of oil. Commodities traders, who work on commission, run the prices up. The more they can sell for, the more they make; just like car salesmen, boat salesmen and pretty much anyone else who sells big-ticket items. My peeve with the rise in price is the lies they tell us surrounding the increase. I believe my quote from back then was, "Don't piss down my back and tell me it's rainin'."

Countries whose oil is nationalized like Saudi Arabia manipulate price through production. Saudi makes no bones about cutting back production to raise prices and does it often. I just wish they'd let the country get our feet under us a little more before the greed-monster kicks back in, but that kind of thinking doesn't work in capitolism... patriotism, maybe, but not capitolism.

...and incidentally, I did blame Bush for a lot of things he DID, but not oil prices per se.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

I am pretty sure, the price of gas being at 3.00 now, is just a reflection or reaction to QE2.....the more money you print...the less it is worth......hence higher prices.....

it's going to start happening all over....food, clothing, there already going up in relationship to the fed printing more money....hyper inflation is being considered a possibility in the future as well....

And once again, I'll just go on record stating that the president is just a figure head these days....being told what to do for the most part....dont' blame them, blame wall street and the elite who control the governments...

I didn't whine then, I'm not whining now. I do recall gas being well over $4 (closing it at $4.50) in Michigan at one point.

It is hypocritical, but politics are hypocritical. If it's not "your" side, it gets spun as it if is the worst possible thing that could ever happen, and SLIPPERY SLOPE, we're all in trouble. If it is "your" side, then it's fine and nothing is going to happen.

Hypocrisy is my biggest issue with politics. It seems I say the same thing you're saying right now in nearly every discussion I have that revolves around politics.
Tell your boss you need to go home to take care of your "cichlids." It sounds an awful lot like "sick kids." )
