Humans did not evolve from apes; that's not at all what Darwin believed. Present day apes and humans have a common ancestor. Apes are not stuck in their ape form.
Uh.... If we come from the same ancestors, why didn't the apes evolve to human form like we did if that's true? Darwin did believe we evolved from apes if he believed we came from the same common ancestor, right?

Nope. Just keep coming up in my head, like we're making robots to be self-functioning, artificially intelligent and such, and worst case scenarios play out in my imagination...

This made me lawl so hard, this is definitely going on "Fundies say the Darndest Things" page on Facebook. So much ignorance about evolution and the big bang lol.

Apologies for posting to the wrong board, I thought I was on that board, apparently not! It's been moved though. =)

This isn't a Debate Thread, it was a thread to see who else on the hfb was Atheist as well, not discuss whether or not God exists. Not that I would mind that discussion.

Judging by the initial reaction to this thread though, I feel it is safe to assume Ghandi was right.

So has there been a consensus on why the big bang occurred? And what was present before that?

More lawls. Not the topic of the thread, though feel free to private message me with these questions if you're serious about discussing it. I'm more than willing to discuss why god doesn't exist, or If he does, and he is the god of the Bible, why he's an evil ****. But on a thread that that's the topic. This thread is just to see who out there is also an atheist and keeps aquariums in the Houston area, this isn't a thread for discussion of said beliefs. It's for networking and meeting new people. =)

Too bad Atheism isn't a religion. There's no Dogma. The only thing that links two atheists together is the simple fact they both don't believe in god. Not every atheist believes in evolution, not every atheist believes the big bang happened, etc. There's not Rules to live by, there's nothing like that. Also, it's not the topic of the thread.

No hope for the thread =/

Even though this isn't the topic of the thread, I re-thought replying to these, and I figured why not? the thread's already been hijacked, it's pointless to expect it to get re-railed back onto it's original track. -.-

I don't believe you are telling the truth, because you are not. If science and math proved god exists how come only 20-30% of *all* modern scientists believe there is a deity? (From recent PEW study poll)

"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the bible a collection of primitive legends which are pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can change this." ~ Albert Einstein, in a letter to philosopher Eric Gutkind

                              You were saying?

Einstein was a Deist, and scoffed at the idea of a personal god who cared about you, or watched what you did. Go read some of his works. You obviously know nothing of Einstein, Darwin, or Evolution. By the way, We are apes!

What's more likely, Jesus was born a Virgin, or a Jewish Minx lied?

So, "I don't know" equals "God" for you? By the way, there is no 'why' to the big bang. It's 'how', and for me, and the scientists studying it, "I don't know" Isn't God, and isn't enough reason to stop searching. But these aren't related to atheism.

But, the best response to what you asked, is "Why does god exist? What was present before God?"

Apes won't evolve into humans. We share a common ancestor with apes, we are apes, we didn't come from apes.

Look in the mirror. Humans are Apes. Apes won't evolve into humans because modern apes are not our ancestors, they are our cousins. We SHARE an ancestor. Would you expect your cousin to turn into you later just because you have the same grandparents?

You quoted me in two of your posts saying something that wasn't necessarily pointed at you. I guess you think I did It was just a couple questions in a hijacked thread but looks like you're keen on waving your atheism like limp salami
