  • US troops, fully armed, "training" on residential streets in Minnesota

A detail of armed US National guard patrol a quiet residential neighborhood in Minnesota. Link to story provided below. When questioned by one resident who snapped a few pictures of them marching down her street, as to why they are patrolling in her neighborhood, a young guardsmen tells her "I honestly don't know".

    A. This is the Army National Guard. Unlike the regular Army they are based in armories which are typically pretty small. Since a typical drilll period is two 2 - 10 hour days it doesn't leave much time to drive to an actual Army post to train. So frequently the Guard will use civilian areas to train.

    B. Its the Minnesota Army National Guard. The closest major Army post to them is either Ft. Leonard Wood, MO or Ft. Riley, KS.

    C. Its the Army National Guard. The people who provide domestic disaster relief in yes; neighborhoods, towns and anywhere else hurricanes, tornados, floods, or any other natural disaster occurs.

    D. As a former member of the Army National Guard unit in Beaumont, TX (HHB 1/133 Field Artillery) we had the option of conducting training locally or driving 6+ hours to Ft. Hood or 18+ hours to Ft. Bliss. The obvious choice was local.

During train up for a deployment to Iraq we once road marched for several miles through a local golf course. We had weapons and ruck sacks. Much like we did whenever we trained. Now I am pretty sure we were not training for the violent take over of East Texas golf courses. Of course that could have been exactly what we were training for and "they" just didn't tell us.

I'm thinking there maybe more to these training exercises that seem to be happening all across America, I'm concerned that we are being acclimated to the sight of troops working in collaboration with the police.

Maybe the government knows they will be needed someday in this fashion. Maybe ....?

Is it just me or does anyone else think there is more to the picture here?

Or am I just brainwashed by too much AJ?

Yes you are reading way too much into it. The National Guard while under the National Guard Bureau is made up of 53 Divisions (50 states + Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Guam). The Commander in Chief for each Division is the Governor of the respective state. Each Division (state) has a Headquarters element which is broken down further into Brigade Combat Teams comprised of roughly three battalions. The short version is that the National Guard operates within the framework of Army Regulation completely different from state to state. It is a convoluted system that quite frankly is barely functional.

The take from that is that is that if the Guard can not operate uniformly from state to state, there is NO CONCEIVABLE WAY that all the state governor's and their respective divisions could possibly operate in conjunction and certainly not in secret for a grander agenda.

To believe otherwise is to give way too much credit where it is not due. If you don't believe me feel to ask General Craig R. McKinley the Chief of the National Guard Bureau who while nominally in charge of the Guard can not do anything with "his" forces without asking for permission and funding from the respective state's governor. Also the Guard has been kind of busy lately (the last ten years or so) with a global war on terror.

I was thinking islands and meant the Phillipines. Not each state or territory has a large enough population of volunteers to field an entire Division.

Update....smiles.....the war on terror has ended, according to the white house, so reports the Washington Times. Neither is it fighting “jihadists” or in a “global war" again, from the Washington Times.

All this military action is to be used somewhere that's for sure. Check out this from the DOD... FM 3-39.40. It is titled "Interment and Resettlement Operations." In chapter 10.40, it discusses the use of military police to assist with the domestic population.

The only thing about that which catches my attention is that it's Minn which is one of the states with the largest population of militia cells if I recall correctly
