How about a compromise? Has anyone taken a look at DFWFishbox's Market section? They each have a subforum called 'Closed for sale ads', 'Closed want to buy ad', 'Closed freebies', yada yada yada...we could do something like that. Then the responsibility would lie on both the person who opens the thread and the mods. So, once the item is sold, the seller would be responsible for adding SOLD to the front of the title, or FOUND if that's the case. Then a mod would move it to the Closed forum.

As for FTS of all the members, you can go through the All Albums link and view the pics people have posted. Whether they post FTS is dependent on the individual.

I like organization so that is why I set up the forums that way. We allow and encourage members to close their own threads when they are sold to promote the uncluttered look. The reason we have separate subforums for each section is for easy searching, say you have something similar for sale and need help pricing your item comparably then you have an easy place to search through instead of searching all the forums or one catch all forum for all closed market place items.

Another thing we encourage is keeping your thread active. If you have something for sale that is 2 months old and you have lost track of it then you either forgot you had it or nobody wants it, so we then move those to the closed section as well.


It's just the way we set it up and seems to be working pretty well.
