Well, you could always just provide cooling down there, via a fan or something. Like a clip on from any ole' store. Did that for years without issue... plus their so cheap, rather than cleaning the fan off (salt creep), I just replaced them. My tank temps have gotten up to 83-84 degrees without one... with one my low is 80 and my high is 81. I have been fiddling with this all week using a heater, my Apex Controller, and a clip on fan. I'm okay with a 1 degree swing, and 81 degrees is nothing to worry about as long as it's constant.

Again, I'm running a metal halide with a Radium bulb (one of the best out there), so heat is a huge deal with our shallow tanks... if you run T5's, you haven't much to worry about, IMO. Just get a clip on fan and be done with it.

Alright so after much planning and thought I decided to go Odyssea metal halide/T5. I've read lots of reviews and the only upgrade it reallys needs is the ballast. The rack i'll be using is something like this

I'll drill the top shelf so I can hang the metal haliad from the bottom of the shelf and use the 2nd shelf from the floor for the tank to sit on. under it on the last shelf the sump shall be placed there. Sound like a good?
