vacation destination for 2010

Hey you guys. My woman and I are planning to go to Destin Florida some time this year. Just wondering if anyone has been there and seen what kind of reefs they have. Im looking at harvesting some zoas and ricodias while im there (did my home work and these corals are legal to 5 polyps each a day). Does anyone know of any hot spots to check out. Heres a link to florida parks and wildlife website cause i know theres going to be at least 1 person say its illegal.

also looking for good deals on stuff to do while im there. aka big boy fishing, alligator hunting (if legal) or just find me a cheap bar to drink at.

I went there when I was young but couldnt tell you anything about the reef. My friend went there Kiyak fishing last year and said they caught some cool stuff and even a shark.

Destin, Florida is AWESOME. My family used to vacation there all the time. We've been there at least 4 or 5 times. I was only a teenager so I dont know anything about the reef or fishing but either way, its gorgeous and you're guaranteed to have a good time. You have to bring some white sand home with you. (he11, you could bring home enough to put in your aquarium.)

I lived ther for 6 years I was in the airforce. Destin is expensive. Try okaloosa island or narverre beach. It's 5-10 miles from Destin but 1/2 the cost. Also I never saw any corals. But it is the most beautiful beach of ever seen and I've been all over the world.

Got to howl at the moon, night town, or any of the dive bars on hwy. Don't take I-10 all the way to Destin ether go to pensacola and drive the senic hwy from Pensacola to naverre beach. Then take the hwy from naverre to Destin. There is more tragic that way but you get to see more. If you have any more questions email me @ paranoid1123@comcast.net and I'll give you my#

Ps you have to vist the florabama bar it it the #1 dive bar in the world. Aslo club la vela in p.c. But that might be too far away.

Damn now you got me thinking of the beach I'm gona have to pack up the wifey and go.

thanks for all the info paranoid. I emailed a guy on a Destin scuba website and he said you can collect anemones and damsels from the jetties, but you will have to charter a boat for the reefs. He said all you have to do is find one boat captain that will allow you to harvest from the boat. I have been google maping the city and looking at all the sweet places to go.
