just wondering what the easiest setup is to run for a fish only tank like equipment wise can i use a canister etc...

If you are going to do a ray tank with little or no rock. Get a big arse sump and fill it full of LR and have a huge skimmer. Both of these should be way oversized for the size tank you have. Do not do canister. But I like Eks comments better.

You could also pile the rock on the side of the tank so that the ray can move around in the center. How big is your tank because you should have a beast to keep a ray.
