Silica sand???

why would silica sand be bad for gobies?

From what I remember the actual shape of the sand particles for silica sand is sharp. Where as the calcium based sands are smooth and rounded.
Sand sifting gobies like to gulp up sand and blow it out of thier gills to consume micro fauna in the substrate. Right?
