Do you need a skimmer for FOWLR tank

I was wondering. Does it make the WC less often?

How big is the tank? You could get away without a skimmer as long as you do constant weekly water changes. I used to run my 20 gallon LPS tank without skimmer and do 20% water changes weekly.

I want to make it low maintance. So I'm adding a 60 gallon skimmer on my 26 gallon, with hang on overflow.
