These fish will probably develop a new mutation and they will adapt just fine here. Too bad. Lionfish are terrible.

                Lionfish in Texas

That video is from September, is it possibly that it will die once winter comes? Unlike most places in Texas our winter doesn't really hit til December

They have been traveling up the coast for a while so they are used to the cold now. More than likely the have come through Louisiana. Yeah lion fish can get huge especially in the gulf with few predators and ample food. If I catch one on a hook I'm cutting my line. After I beat it against the side of the boat for a while.

A shark can eat anything. Humans are the highest predator on the food chain. I think they are slowly adapting but the true test will come next year when the water temp will be sustained in the 50s. Right now the water is high 60s and low 70s which is warm enough for me to wet wads. But seeing them migrate this close is a bad sign. It's not likely someone would release them because they are simply too hard and dangerous to handle.

Its not hard to release them rather easy scoop them with a net put in a bucket with water from the tank and dump the whole bucket in

If ya catch or spot a lionfish, report it to the Texas Game and Wildlife..

The cold temps aren't an issue anymore they have adapted. They have been in northern Florida for a couple of years so they are used to it now.
