Im starting to get these algea everywhere in my tank. It looks like little maroon flakes. It started at the bottom of my live rocks and now its starting to spread everywhere. But when the lights are off, it disappear. Can anyone help id it?

No its not stringy.

OK. I just Google flatworm. And it does look like it. Is it harmful?? How do I get rid of it.

Depends what kind you have. But they can multiply fast and block your corals from light by smothering them. Need to get rid of that infestation cause it looks like the population is spreading quickly.

Flat worm exit... but read the instructions carefully. They release toxins when they die so be careful

Those are red flat worms.

Hit them...hit them hard.

I would dip each rock and treat the tank.

Multipe times.

Quickly follow MyJohnson advise.

I didn't act quickly, and now I've got them completely covering the substrate, and 4-6" up the glass at night. They will turn your entire tank, substrate, rocks, glass rusty red.

I'm planning to make a dip tank, and a dipped holding tub, while I change tanks. I just hope everyone holds on while I get a new tank ready. Then I'll re-dip back into the new larger tank, and add nudibranchs (2) for good measure.

You dont want them to stick around. Nuke-em while you don't have many, as stated, it's their released upon death toxin that hurts things.
