its been a while since I made sushi but you can get a several ounce jar for around 5 bucks. They might have a bigger one for a better deal though. Keep it in the fridge and give him small scoops. They will eat all the pods in the tank fast. Tobiko is like crack for mandarins and nutritious.

The amount of fish isn't too bad. But the tang is the issue. Tangs are open water fish. They need room to swim and a 55 isn't big enough. I have a 90 and its not big enough for an adult yellow tang. You either need a larger tank or a different fish. I mean do what you want but it it would be like locking you in a bathroom your whole life. Sure you would live but you wouldn't be healthy or happy...

I think the yellow tang wont be a problem at all, especially with the fish in there now. I've kept several in tanks over 100 gallon and they do not reach that size. I've only seen them that big in public aquaria. There are other tangs other than the yellow that are more problematic having in smaller tanks.

A yellow tang needs at least 5 feet of length and over 100 gallons to properly live.

I suggest you check out reef central - they have a specific list of requirements for tangs and a forum where you can post your stock plan and an expert will evaluate it.

Additionally, that mandarin may have a hard time unless you get really lucky and find one that will accept food. Otherwise you may have to just continually add pods to the tank.
