  • Is this ich?

I just noticed this on most of my fish today. I just added live sand to my refugium in my sump and it made my water very cloudy. So once it started clearing up I noticed this on my fish. I hope this is not ich. My tank is about 40 days cycled.

    Looks like it. Sorry.
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Tangs are real prone to ich. My yellow tank had vidible ich on and off the first 4 months he was in my tank. Just let nature take its course, keep your parameters stable in the mean time

Looks like ich or maybe brooklynella. What other fish do you have in your tank? Are they eating?

Everything is perfect except my ph is low. I have few crabs, flame angel, golden maroon clownfish, Blenny, spotted mandarin goby, bicolor angel. I have 93 gallon cube with sump, octopus protein skimmer, live rock, uv sterilizer, strong lighting radion xr30w g2

If they are eating try soaking brine shrimp or any frozen food with garlic and selcom for help your fish to boost their immune system. Do not stress your fish doing dramatic changes, if you have ich they will make it but if you have brooklynella be ready for a massive outbreak and wait for the worst since brook is a massive killer. To completely eradicate ich or brook from your system you need your tank fish-less for a period of 8 weeks. I'm really sorry and good luck.

I will get garlic soaked with their shrimp.

It's just strange how everyone got it at the same time. After I added that live sand in my sump and it got so cloudy for hours and after it's started to clear up everyone has white spots. These spots are very sparkly as well. Plus everyone is eating well and swimming just fine.

I thought maybe it was the stuff that's in the live sand stuck on their slime coat. Tank is 40 days old. I've only used RO water and every fish I put in has been dipped in fresh water before they go in the main tank. I've even dipped the live rock IoI.

Came home and swimming and eating fine. I still see white spots on him. I don't have a qt tank and I really don't want to set one up because I'm selling my house and one tank is enough. Wish I could fine someone who can house and heal my fish ;-) I'd pay 200-300 bucks and I'll just keep my tank empty for 12 weeks. ( hoping here)

Well I recorded the fish so you guys can take a better look. Set the YouTube video to 1080p so you could see better detail.

So I check my tank today and the spots are gone! So i'm not sure if it was ich or not. If it was ich, I know that the ich is still there even though there no more white spots. So, I decided to just try to keep my fish as healthy and happy as possible. I remember my when I first got the blue tang hippo last week he was so stressed.

Ich with tangs sometimes never goes away, but if they are not stressed it isn't a problem. Keep them happy & as long as they are eating & swimming they should be fine.

So far everything is okay. I haven't seen any spots on my tang anymore. He's still eating very well. Also the rest of my fish show no sign of spots or stress. Over all tank is looking great.
