Carpet anemone

So I just bought a carpet anemone and dropped it in my tank two days ago and it looked plenty healthy at the time but now the little mouth in the center has opened up to about 2 inches in diameter and it looks like it's insides are coming out and it's somewhat shriveled up still and it hasn't attached itself yet so I'm not sure if it's dying or just stressed my tank does run a bit warm and I am over due a water change so it was probably a bad time to add a new member to the tank.

what kind of set up do you have. Size, Lighting, other reef inhabitants, water parameters so forth.
