                  Try this and let me know how it turns out..

                  Set Picture Control to Standard.
                  Take a picture.
                  Open the jpeg in PS or Nikon Capture
                  Got to Edit or Adjust Levels
                  Slide the left meter to the right slightly or until the image looks good.

                  See if that helps any..

                      Ok so I downloaded the capture NX2 and went to edit but not seeing this "left meter"

                          That looks much better. The colors "pop" more..

                          Here's what I meant by the left bar of the slider..





                          And here's what sliding those meters towards the center does.. Yours is on top and my edited one is on bottom..
                          It basically increases contrast a bit...

                                LoL, I've been at this since you mentioned it earlier.

                                This is the only thing remotely close to what you posted but it doesn't show much of anything and it's a setting that has to be saved.
