So I have a grouping of zoas and I noticed when it was first placed in the tank that part of the colony seemed to be growing on a shell. Well the other day I was frustrated because it kept falling off a rock and noticed part of it was loose. After gently separating the two pieces, the piece that separated off the larger piece is on a rock or coral base, and the larger piece is a zoa colony growing on 2 quarter + sized shellfish, mixed in with 2 smaller shellfish and 2 weird greyish-blackish lumps.
Furthermore, the clammy/scallopy things are alive and feeding when I feed my corals!
I was told not to get shellfish like a clam or scallop because of how small my tank is (29 g biocube) so now what? Do I leave it? Do I try to get the coral off the shells?
