using seachem reef buffer and reef advantage calcium. been using more and more as my sps get bigger I really wanna set this tank up to dose automatically.
FNice chalice!. Try kalwasser mixed with your ato, it helps a lot keeping your parameters stables (Alk and Ca). I have been using on my 60p for a while with good results. Pickling lime is and alternative cheap solution.
lime/calcium hydroxide/kalkwasser works from what I hear. I should look into more as it would be a much cheaper way to handle the problem than reactors and such. you got any good links ek?
it's been too long since I've dabbled with the sw stuff and all the good articles/links I have saved in the past have been lost with the destruction of my old laptop.

thanks miggy, been looking into getting kalk stirrer that i can hook up to my ATO to dose automatically. Gonna read up on it before I pull the trigger.
I just put kalk into my ATO. I have a little pump in there that constantly moves the water around. pH stays stable at about 8.10 now. I used to have a problem getting it to 8.00.
id use aquamags to cover up that overflow box...you can send them a form of what you want and get one custom made to encapsulate the overflow box and give you an awesome spot for frags www.aqua-mags.com
thats an interesting product. overflow doesn't really bother me much aestetically. except the fact that its there and taking up room and blocking light. adding rocks to it would make it bigger and more in the way and it might look wierd with 'floating' rocks at the top/middle of my tank.
Wow, great looking tank!
Agree with Nacra on the sump.
I'm about to drill a 20 thanks to glass-holes.
Could you pm me some info on that well thought out sump?
I have a 10 to be the sump, but only have the sock and return pump at the moment.
39g Crypt/ anubias, wild shrimp and minnows.
55g Reef- first salt in many many years, coming along. Looking great, and stable. Garden mix of soft/lps corals. DIY refugeum
