          • Ok so this build was much more difficult than I thought or its was PPP (Piss Poor Planning) but here goes.

So I bought the 150W HQI with a 20K Coralife bulb. I picked up to nano CPU fans from Radio Shack and some prongs from Frys. Only reason I didnt get the fans from Frys is they only sell fans with 3 pins and the board on the JBJ is a 2 pin. Here is the hood before disassembly.

Torn up with the two fans next to it

I then used JB-weld and attached the fixtures to the reflector plate and let it set over night

This is where all hell broke loose on this. I attached the fans as you will see below

Well today rolls around and I begin to assemble everything. Well my dumbass measured the space needed for the fixture to clear the glass plate as seen in the first pic but not for the fixture plus the bulb. :furious:So I contemplate and figure that if I cut the piece that screws the plate to the hood then I can get some room so I cut it in half but it wont sit all the way down because now the space for the fans is to small. So I have to rip it off, so I proceed and mount the plate down and I drill a hole through the back to bring in the power to the MH. I figured I will deal with the fans later. Also a pic of it fired on.

Well I figured out that I will use your idea MJ and put the fans inside the light area so that I can cool off the light directly so I attached the fans to the side of the area that houses the light. I drilled some holes so that the fans can suck in air and blow it across the light. I forgot to take a picture before I screwed the glass on and since I was pissed already I just took the picture after and didnt want to unscrew.

End product a much nicer crisper light and get the awesome shimmer effect of course. My back is killing me right now

                    • I didnt run it to long last night but for the amount of time it did run it didnt seem like it was significantly hotter than the PC. I never thought I would do something like this I am slowly becoming a DIY expert. On a side note I picked up a 400W inverter that I am going to hook up to a battery for Hurricane season on my discus tank.

None. All they do is stand on your corals and cause it to close.

Little things pissed me off man.

                              • Had a set back yesterday. I guess I didnt put enough JB on the fixture or the tension from the light bulb and the power cord was pulling on it was to much that the weld came lose and the light didnt come on. So I had to re-weld it last night and move the cord so that it isnt pulling on the fixture. Hopefully this works
